Mr. Kukulski,
Department
I respectfully request that Officer James Hanson be confirmed as a patrol officer
for the Kalispell Police Department. Officer Hanson has successfully completed his one-
year probationary period effective January 2nd, 2003.
Officer Hanson has become a well -respected and dedicated member of this
department. He has demonstrated a high degree of professionalism, compassion,
expertise and grit throughout his tenure with us.
Jim was consistently noted for his positive attitude and professional demeanor in
his evaluations. Through great personal adversity, Jim demonstrated tremendous
resiliency and courage and he is always concerned about improving those around him.
A recent arrest of a car thief by Officer Hanson may give you an indication of his
dedication. In November Officer Hanson assisted two other officers in the pursuit of a
stolen car. When the stolen car was disabled, Officer Hanson chased the car thief on
foot, tackling the suspect in a yard. The thief fought with Officer Hanson for several
minutes before he could be subdued.
Officer Hanson recognizes that his badge is a symbol of public trust and he works
hard every day to earn the confidence of the people in this community. Jim has
constantly met or exceeded all of our professional and ethical standards and he has been a
welcome addition to our department.
We are grateful to have Jiro with us and it is my pleasure to give him my highest
recommendation to be confirmed as a police officer for the City of Kalispell.
Respectfully submitted,
Frank Gamer
