Ray Ruffatto became a Prevention Division Inspector for the Kalispell Fire Department on March 8th, 2004. In accordance with Montana State Code, fire personnel serve a six-month probationary period, and are required to be confirmed by the City Council when they have successfully completed their probationary period. Inspector Ruffatto has now completed that period_ including an extensive training regime, and field operations time. RECOMMENDATIONS: Council confirms F. Ray Ruffatto's probationary period I have the following information. As you are aware, F. Ray began employment with our department on March 8t" of this year. His 6-month probation period will be completed on September 81h. It is my recommendation that F. Ray Ruffatto be confirmed by the Kalispell City Council, based upon the successful completion of this probation period. During the interview/selection process for the fire inspector position, F. Ray demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and customer service ability. These traits have been put to the test over the previous 6 months, as Inspector Ruffatto has been heavily involved in conducting life -safety inspections and delivering public education. F. Ray has continually exhibited a high degree of technical knowledge and communication ability, which has allowed him to be successful in gaining compliance to life -safety codes and improving awareness in risk reduction by our community. F. Ray has taken his responsibility seriously, and has worked hard to improve life -safety in our community. He continues to exceed customer expectations in the delivery of our service and conducts himself in a manner that reflects our department in a positive manner. F. Ray's technical skills in EMS and fireground operation have also benefited our department and community, both in service delivery and administrative coordination. F. Ray is a self-starter and very motivated to complete tasks in a timely and professional manner. During my recent absences related to vacation and training, F. Ray was able to assume the lead role in prevention -related activity and did an excellent job in maintaining the momentum and meeting the customer needs. It is my pleasure to recommend F.
