Per your request for a summary report related to Fire Inspector F. Ray Ruffatto's
probationary period I have the following information.
As you are aware, F. Ray began employment with our department on March 8t" of this
year. His 6-month probation period will be completed on September 81h. It is my
recommendation that F. Ray Ruffatto be confirmed by the Kalispell City Council, based
upon the successful completion of this probation period.
During the interview/selection process for the fire inspector position, F. Ray
demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and customer service ability. These
traits have been put to the test over the previous 6 months, as Inspector Ruffatto has
been heavily involved in conducting life -safety inspections and delivering public
education. F. Ray has continually exhibited a high degree of technical knowledge and
communication ability, which has allowed him to be successful in gaining compliance to
life -safety codes and improving awareness in risk reduction by our community.
F. Ray has taken his responsibility seriously, and has worked hard to improve life -safety
in our community. He continues to exceed customer expectations in the delivery of our
service and conducts himself in a manner that reflects our department in a positive
manner. F. Ray's technical skills in EMS and fireground operation have also benefited
our department and community, both in service delivery and administrative coordination.
F. Ray is a self-starter and very motivated to complete tasks in a timely and professional
manner. During my recent absences related to vacation and training, F. Ray was able
to assume the lead role in prevention -related activity and did an excellent job in
maintaining the momentum and meeting the customer needs.
It is my pleasure to recommend F. Ray Ruffatto for confirmation by our city council.
