17. Board Appointment - Conrad Mansion Board of DirectorsD.A. Davidson & Co. Ijp Lp member SIPC p a 4 } l 'ALI:S'H L C1TY CL R March 12, 2004 Mayor Pam Kennedy P.O. Box 1997 Kalispell, MT 59901 Dear Mayor Kennedy I would like to apply for the Conrad Mansion Museum Board position that is currently available. I have a strong desire to see the Conrad Mansion utilized to its uimost poientiai. i firmly oeiieve that we need to focus on maintaining and restoring the Mansion to ensure that it is available for our future generations all the while delighting and entertaining those of use that visit it now. In my travels I have visited Florence, Italy which is the birth place of the modern park. The parks in that city are very much unchanged over the centuries and visiting you literally walk in the footsteps of history. I view the grounds of the mansion in that same light. We have a beautiful and historic building for at( the public to use for everything from senior portraits to their wedding day. For each day that we have access to the mansion and its grounds we create more history and moments that will be forever captured on photographs and in our memories. We need to manage the Conrad Mansion in manor that will keep it user friendly for both our local and tourist patrons all the while maintaining the historic integrity. I would consider it an honor to play an active roll in the operation and future of this local landmark. I wish you the best in your decision making process. If you would like any additional information or would like to meet with me in person, please contact me at either my office 752-6212 or on my cell phone 249-0936. Sincerely, Darren J. Dear Mayor Kennedy, My term on the Board of Directors of Conrad Mansion is up soon and I would gladly continue to serve. I have served as treasurer and as a member of the Board of Directors of Conrad Mansion Directors, Inc. from its inception. I was an Alderman in Ward 2 and an advisor to Mrs. Campbell when she gifted the mansion to the city. If reappointed, I will do my best to be a good steward of this great asset Respectfully submitted, Everit A. Box 1997 Kalispell, MT 59903-1997 Dear Mayor Kennedy, I have received notice that City representative Ev Skier's term on the Conrad Mansion Museum Board is about to expire. I am writing to ask that you please consider positively the reappointment of Ev Sliter to the Board. Ev has served since the Museum's inception. It is hard to imagine how the Mansion could have survived without his guiding leadership and volunteerism. Ev has, as a CPA, donated tens of thousands of dollars in expertise and labor, often without receiving even a simple "thank you" from anyone (and, I might add, especially from the city, which he has represented for well over 25 years). Ev is, in my opinion, the single most valuable Board member we have. Next only to Sam Bibler, Ev has given more time, talent, and treasure than anyone else associated with the Museum. Please know (obviously) that Ev has my full support —and the entire Board's support —and that we hope you'll reappoint him as a City representative. I would be happy to talk with you further if you have any comments or questions. Feel free to give me a call at my office number shown below. Thank you, Pam. Everit serves as Board Treasurer. His dedication, commitment and expertise has been invaluable to our Board. He and his family spend countless hours each year volunteering time and energy to make major Mansion events successful, including managing the Holiday Bazaar and adorning the exterior with lights each holiday season. But for the efforts of people like Everit, it would be impossible to establish and maintain this beautiful home as one of our city's most beautiful and historic landmarks. Thank you for considering this request to reappoint Everit for another four year term. Sincerely, Gayle J.
