BACKGROUND: Kalispell Fire Department is moving through the process of design and
planning for a north fire sub -station. The Department intends to apply for a matching fund grant to
assist with the planning process of this fire sub -station through the State of Montana Department of
Commerce Community Development Block Grant Program. A resolution by Council is required as
part of the application process.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Council approve a resolution allowing the Kalispell Fire Department to
apply for a matching CDBG grant for matching funds to assist in the planning process of the north
fire sub -station.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION TO THE MONTANA DEPARTMENT
OF COMMERCE FOR A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT TO PROVIDE
PLANNING DOLLARS TO PROVIDE A PRELIMINARY ARCHITECTURAL REPORT FOR
THE KALISPELL FIRE DEPARTMENT NORTHERN FIRE SUB -STATION.
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell is applying to the Montana Department of Commerce for a
Community Development Block Grant Planning Grant to provide a minimum of $15,000 in non-
federal funds to prepare a Fire Sub -Station (Preliminary Architectural Report) to plan for development
of a northern fire sub -station in 2004-2005.
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell will be contributing $15,000 towards a $15,000 match requirement;
and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: That the City of Kalispell agrees to conform to the regulations, statutes, terms
and conditions described in the CDBG Certifications for Application.
SECTION II: That the City of Kalispell agrees to contribute $15,000 of funds towards the
required $15,000 match that the City must provide.
SECTION III: That the City Manager is authorized to submit on behalf of the City of
Kalispell, the CDBG Planning Grant to the Montana Department of Commerce and to provide
such other additional information as may be required.
