Hansz, P.E., Director of Public Works SUBJECT: Award Bid — Annual Pavement Maintenance (Chipseal) Project MEETING DATE: April 5, 2004 BACKGROUND: Each year the Public Works Department prepares a project for pavement maintenance. The current project will involve chipseals of the streets in the Buffalo Stage and South Meadows areas to extend the useful life of the streets. A project was assembled and advertised for bids due 23 March 2004. Only a single bid from JTL Group of Kalispell was received by the bid deadline. Their bid was $125,895, The current Gas Tax fund budget has $141,000 remaining for this work. The JTL bid is approximately $15,000 less than the funds available. RECOMMENDATION: Award bid for chipseal to ITL Group based on their bid of $125,895.00. They submitted a bid of $125,895.00 without sweeping and $148,967.00 with sweeping. It is my recommendation that JTL Group, Inc. be awarded the contract for the 2004 Chip. Seal Project without sweeping for $125,895.00. There is $141,000.00 budgeted in the Gas Tax Fund .for 2004.
