Hansz, P.E., Public works ATE: September 14, 200 Highlights of monthly activity for the operating divisions of the Public "works Department for the month of August 2005 are as follows: ENGINEERING DIVISION • Conducted technical review meeting with design consultants for WWTP odor control study. • Conducted technical review meeting with design consultants for Old School Station lift station and pipeline. • Coordinated WWTP odor control study field testing by consultants. • Conducted technical review meeting with representatives of Goldberg Properties for Phase III of Spring Prairie development. • Participated in Kalispell Bypass technical review meetings and public open house for the prof et. Met with Old School Station developers and consultants to resolve outstanding issues on -utility extensions. o Met with MDT and consultants regarding MDT requirements for extending utilities south on US 93 to serve Old School Station development. • Conducted kick-off meeting with senior staff and impact fee consultant. Participated in technical review meeting with City Manager, High School and their consultant to resolve concerns with utility, parking, and roadway costs. Participated in the Meridian Road pre -construction meeting. • Conducted pre -design. workshop with consultant team and MDEQ for the WWT expansion. Reviewed process option recommendations and confirmed process design. direction. Conducted interviews for Associate Civil Engineering position. Conducted pre -construction conference for Mountain Vista Estates Subdivision. Performed final observations for Public Works responsibilities on the Discovery Developmental. Center. Assembled contract documents for the Gateway West Mall Parking Lot Addition.. • Examined video of sanitary serer in Meridian Road between Parkway and Idaho. This sewer will be repaired prior to the reconstruction of Meridian Road. ENGINEERING DIVISION continued... Completed the Project Completion Checklists for 17 projects added to the City's infrastructure for FY 2004-2005. Calculated system development charges for commercial developments. Reviewed storm water system design with architects on the Glacier High School. Performed final observation on Ashley Park Subdivision, Phase V 0 Participated in site review meetings held on Thursday. Replaced mower deck hearings arn.d seals on Parks" mower. Replaced hydraulic pump fitting and replaced packer cylinder on garbage truck. Replaced fuel hose on injector pump on the street Tandem. Welded damaged tail gate, repaired rear light wiring, and replaced hydraulic hoses on the street Tandem. + Replaced water pump on Street asphalt saw. Stripped police equipment and switched seat in Crown vie to he auctioned. o Repaired PTO switch wiring on the 'arks' mower. Replaced blades and adjust anvils on Parks' chipper. • Replaced hopper safety cables on the Elgin. sweeper. • Replaced smashed taillight assemblies and replaced front brakes and machined rotors on the street truck. • ,placed rover deck bearing and hydrostatic drive pedal hef.ngs on the arts' mower. • Replaced leaking hydraulic line, leaking axle seal, and cleaned and adjusted brakes on garbage truck., • Replaced gutter broom hydraulic hose on the Elgin sweeper. • Repaired steerng cylinder on the Street Division's roller. • Replaced steering drag link, repaired tailgate air loci., and replaced two rear tires on the Street iv.sion's tandem. Replaced fan belt on 'arks' pickup. RAGE continued,,. • Replaced field clutch assembly on Parks' mower. Replaced all brakes on ambulance. Replaced pump pressure gauge and speedometer on the Fire Department pickup. ► Replaced bucket hydraulic hoses and bleed hydraulic system on Fire Department ladder truck. Held weekly safety meetings. • Continued video and jet cleaning of sever lines Monday through Thursday. • 'erforn ed weekly maintenance of twenty-six lift stations each Ffiday. • Held weekly safety meetings. SOLID WASTE DIVISION Delivered 7 containers to new customers: 0-90 gallon, 4 - oo gallon, 2- oo gallon, -300 gallon. Repaired 9 containers: 2— 90 gallon, 3— 300 gallon, 4— 400 gallon and responded to 9 violations. • Continued weekly garbage service and alley cleanup. • Continued Pruning in City alleys. Held weekly safety meetings. STREET DIVISION • General operations and maintenance of City streets and alleys. • Patched vary ous alleys and streets throughout the City. • Prepped and paved alleys on the cast side of Kalispell. • Paved alley behind Lutheran Home. • Assisted the Water Division and the Parks Department. • Heal weekly safety meetings. WA TER DIVISION ,WA TER PRODUCTION & STORAGE: Produced 211 M gallons of water: 69 M gallons upper zone and 142 M gallons .lower zone. n ected 822 gallons of sodium hypochlorite, 2 solution to maintain an average chlorine residual of 0.33 PPM throughout the system. • Continued daily monitoring of all pump stations and routine maintenance on all pumps, motors, chlorination equipment, analyzers, grounds, buildings, controls, testing, water sampling, and record keeping. Modified and enhanced alarm system at Noffsinger Springs Pump Station. Replaced pyre- lu e valve at the Armory Well. WA TER PRODUCTION & STOP GE con tin uedw • . Restocked chlorine fittings and repair kits, tubing, etc. Repaired numerous chlorine leaks on pressure side of system. WATER CONSTRUCTIONAND SYS EM REPAI . Tagged 43 delinquent accounts on the West Side of Kalispell.. Meter maintenance and change out on going. Completed 191 work orders during the month August. Repaired 88 meters. Installed 105 meters. Checked 37 accounts for high consumption. Removed oved old fire hydrant at Appleway Dive. Replaced fire Hydrants at 1 Avenue WN and Oregon and at 6 th Avenue East and 4 1 Street East. Ran a /4" water service line at Woodland Farb. Completed 8 x 4" tap at the C ty Airport. « Completed 12 4" tap at Gateway West Mall. • Completed seven x /4" water taps at Teal and Bluestone. • Completed s x 4" tap at new bank next to Hone Depot. • Completed 12 x " tap at 5h Avenue West and Center Street. • Repaired " gate valve at Main Street and I It" Street. • Rep aired � � b all j o int at I " Avenue WN & Washington. Resigned West Wyoming and 7'h Avenue WN for "Temporary No Parking" due to problems with parking for the Fair. + Picked up all signs, candles, and barricades from the NW fairground area. WASTE WA TER TREA TMENT DIVISION • 108 Work orders were completed during the month of August. 6 Lab tests were performed during the month . of August. 24 Loads of sludge were hauled during August. 127,760 pounds of halo -solids were pressed. Permit Report for ,duly 20: There were no permit violations. The total monthly .low as 2 million gallons, down from 110.7 million gallons in June. The average daily flow was 2.974 million gallons, with a peak flow of 3.5 million gallons on July I". Replacement of the secondary clarifier drive mechanisms is progressing satisfactorily and ahead of schedule. Safety meetings conducted weekly.
