Dear Mayor Pam Kennedy,
I would be very honored to be selected for the newly established (temporary)
advisory commiftee to study a community recreation center wfthin the Iffy. As you
know, after our meeting several months ago, concerning the empty Gateway Mail
project, I have a very strong interest in developing a similar project. I can r'g to the
fable all the work that has already been done, and financial backing for such a project,
for the benefit of the whole community.
believe strongly, as l know you do too, that a facility like this is long overdue.
With the growth this valley has seen In recent years and the influx of people, we need
now more than ever, a place where everyone is welcome and can safely enjoy,
regardless of age. This is why i would very much like selected to participate on
this commiftee.

Subject., Citizen Advisory Council - mmy Center
Dear Mayor Kennedy,
The Flathead Youth Foundation is keenly interested in keeping abreast of any developments that may impact our
local youth and have greatly appreciated Police Chief, Frank Garner and Parks and R " Director, Mike Baker, who
have both taken the time to attend our meetings and keep us informed on the potentiality of a community center
incorporating a focall point for Teens, Having learned from Mike of the formation of the Citizen Advisory Council,
he Foundation Trustees, unanimously passed- a motion to support a request for my appointment to the proposed
council. This letter serves as our written request for your consideration of my OappointM. My backgrouindand
experien.ce is primarily in Social Service and Education with a focus on long range organizational planning, grant
writing 11-und,raising, family support services, establishing (CX3) non- profit organizations; public & media
relations OnCWding s c ' municipal tax campaigns), accredi tafio.nservices. progra rn a nd budget
development—mlmri, etc.
Having long carried a sense of urgency for the teens of Ka I is pe I I I was especially pheased to discover you shared
similar concern. It's undeniably that this sector is as important and vital as any J n K s j - - -- - yet compared to
other " r o s" they're grossly'underserved, not only by our m.unicipa-lity but by the community at large including
not -for profits, private sector, etc. To Iffiat end, 1 applaud you and the City Council for taking the first steps
toward providing all Kalispell residents with a much -deserved community center- Programs and auctivities for
teens ben-" entire ommu.y with o.ie and even imasurae results.
With careful collaboration between various entities Kalispell could host a community center that
rises to the challenge of successful programming thcat-not only includes, but champions our Teens by letting
them know we value them. There is consistent enthusiasm and support for teen -programming from all sectors
in our community not to mention that Kalispell has a wealth2 of generous and talented rigs waiting & willing
to support such endeavors¢
On behalf of the Flathead Youth Foundation and myself, I thank you in advance for your careful consideration of
our request for my appointment the Citizen Advisory council for the Community Center. I hope you'll. find m
interest and experience to be a benefit to the overall Community Center planning process as welf as to any
objectives related to our fantastic Kalispell F s

Dear Mayor and City Council:
I am meting this letter to express my interest in joining the Community Recreation Center
Advisory Committee.
arm mam*ed and a parent of two small children., Naomi, age 4Y2and Sean, age 1 Y2. 1 am
employed as a Registered Sales & Marketing Assistant at Investment Centers of America as
well as owning my own small business, D. McClenaliar Activities, LLC which offers Stroller
StridesTm to the Flathead valley. (Stroller Stri . sTm is a stroller fitness program for moms as
well as pregnant women..) I am also a student at FVCC and will complete the A.A.S.-
Business ess dmi istra ion degree in May Zoo .
My interest in having a community recreation center is for both personal and business
purposes. A community recreation enter i often the center 1 activities within community.
In Kalispell there are several Organizations that offer activities and events to all ages.
However these activities are spread throughout the area creating a problem in commurucating
to the public that the activities are available. This forces the organization to spend money on
costly advertising that can be ineffective. A community recreation center could be a solution
because it could not only the location for such activities but also the hub of communicating
ing
the various activities to the public i.e. web site v calendar of events, newsletter, etc).
s a parent, I feel that a community recreation center would provide an array of possibilities
as far as activities for small children through teenagers. As the operator of Stroller Strides, it
could he a location for indoor classes; a meeting area for Mom' Night Out, the location of the
playgroups for the children... the possibilities ilities are wide open.
1 hope to be included on this committee. I believe that my ideas, hack ro nd and vision
would be valuable to the committee, the City of Kalispell and ultimately, our community.
Sincerely,
Danielle M. McCler ahan
