FROM: Charles Harball, City Attorney

SUBJECT: Meter Curb Boxes
MEETING DATE: Monday, May 2, 2005 — Regular Council Meeting
BACKGROUND: The City Council had the opportunity at the April 25, 2005
workshop to review the proposal by the Public Works Department to require the
installation of insulated meter curb boxes with back flow protection on all new
construction. The reasons for this recommendation was that this requirement
would make the meters more accessible to the City for maintenance (by not being in
the home) and it would provide the much needed back flow protection for the
integrity of the City water supply.
