8. Proclamation - United States Army Week - 6/12 - 6/18, 2005and PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the United States Army was established by the First Continental Congress on the 14th day of June, 1775; WHEREAS, the United States Array exists to defend the freedom of our citizens and our nation's security interests; and WHEREAS, many citizens of Kalispell have served their nation and given the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedoms, as members of the United States Army; and WHEREAS, it is proper to recognize the United States Army annually on its birthday, and to thank those who have served and those who are presently serving; NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Pamela B. Kennedy, Mayor of the City of Kalispell, Flathead County, Montana do hereby designate June 14, 2005 as the United States Army's 230th birthday and proclaim the period from June 12 through June 16, 2005 as UNITED STATES ARMY WEEK in the City of Kalispell and urge all citizens to join with me in this salute as we express our gratitude to those who have served and those who are serving to protect our nation and its freedoms.
