SUBJECT: Ordinance 1537 — Ordinance to Incorporate the 1997 UBC
Fee Schedule
MEETING DATE: Monday, June 6, 2005 — Regular City Council Meeting
BACKGROUND: The City Council has been considering the question of amending
the City's building fees to the 1997 UBC Fee Schedule as Whitefish and Columbia
Falls have done. In previous work sessions, the Building and Public Works
departments discussed their work force and material needs to meet the growing
demands on them by new construction in the city. A public hearing was advertised
and public comment was taken just prior to Council discussion and consideration of
this matter on first reading.
RECOMMENDATION: That Council consider and pass Ordinance 1537 on second
reading amending the building fees to conform to the 1997 UBC Fee Schedule.
FISCAL EFFECTS: The anticipated increase in building fees will provide the
necessary revenues to fund the requested full time positions needed to furnish the
municipal building services to the development community.
Respectfully su initted,
