Patrick, City Manager SUBJECT: Storm Sewer Maintenance Assessments MEETING DATE: August 15, 2005 BACKGROUND: The resolution is adopted annually to provide a levy to fund the cost of storm sewer maintenance. The assessments are per square foot of property in the City at rates determined by the type and use of property. The City Council adopted Ordinance 1476 establishing the parameters for assessing property. The storm sewer assessments are proposed to increase 11.5% per the Public Works Facility Plan adopted by the Council. RECOMMENDATION: Adoption of resolution establishing the assessments. FISCAL EFFECTS: The City anticipates receiving $436,888 in revenue to be used for the costs associated with the Storm Sewer Fund. Amy H. Robertson Finance Director Report compiled: August 9, 2005 James H. atrick City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 5041 A RESOLUTION LEVYING ASSESSMENTS FOR THE COST OF STORM SEWER MAINTENANCE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2005-2006. WHEREAS, the assessment cost of the Storm Sewer Maintenance District for the fiscal year 2005- 2006 is estimated to be $436,788.00, and WHEREAS, at a public hearing held on the 18th day of July, 2005, the City Council did consider all objections made to said estimate and to the basis of levy and assessment for payment for said cost. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL, MONTANA: SECTION I. That a tax be levied for the assessment cost, or $436,788.00 be in the amounts set opposite the description of each lot or parcel of land, as shown by the special assessment lists on file in the office of the City Finance Director. SECTION II. The amount of said tax shall be levied proportionately on an area basis in an amount per square foot of lot or parcel of land within the district except public streets or rights of way. Category 1. $.001864 Category 2. $.003604 Category 3. $.006464 Category 4. $.008080 Maximum charges for Category I and Category 2 are per Ordinance 1476. In Category 1, vacant land over two acres has a maximum charge of $181.06. In Category 2, residential land over acre has a maximum charge of $87.43.
