Lighting assessments are charged at .00300 per square foot. The rate is the same as last year. Revenue is increased about $20,000 due to the addition of subdivisions and areas with lights. RECOMMENDATION: Adoption of resolution establishing the assessments. FISCAL EFFECTS: The City anticipates receiving $186,340 in revenue to be used for the costs associated with Light Maintenance. Patrick Finance Director City Manager Report compiled: August 9, 2005 RESOLUTION NO.5036 A RESOLUTION LEVYING AN ASSESSMENT FOR THE COST OF LIGHTING THE STREETS AND ALLEYS IN THE CITY SPECIAL LIGHTING DISTRICT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2005-2006. WHEREAS, the assessment cost of the Special Lighting District for the fiscal year 2005-2006 is estimated to be $165,199.00, and WHEREAS, at a public hearing held on the l 8th day of July, 2005, the City Council did consider all objections made to said estimate and to the basis of levy and assessment for payment for said cost. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL, MONTANA: SECTION I. The amount of said tax shall be levied proportionately on an area basis in the amount of $.00300 per square foot of lot or parcel of land within the district except public streets or rights of way.
