respectfully request that Officer Brian Harms be confirmed as a patrol office- for
the Kalispell oli a Department. officer Harris has successfully completed his one year
probationary pefiod effective September 30, 2006.
Officer Harfis came to us from the Lincoln County, Washington Sheriff s Office
where he was employed as a deputy for over three years. Office' arms received a
number of law enforcement eerifieatos while employed with Lincoln County including
advanced interviewing, property room management unarmed control tactics instructor,
clandestine methamp etamine lab rocessi .g and impact weapons instructor.
Brian also served with the Airway Correction. Center in Washington where he
received a number of commendations and was promoted to sergeant. During his tenure
there he was the supervisor ofthe maximum security wing and a member of their
emergency response team. Officer Harris has a total of 15 years ofexperience 'in law
enforcement.
Officer Harris recognizes the importance of the department" s shared values of
honesty, integrity, professional competence, compassion positive leadership and respect
for the Public. He recognizes that his badge is a symbol of public faith and worts hard to
e a good steward of that public trust. Arian has exemplary observation and investigative
skills and his experience and training are considerable assets to this department. officer
Harfis works well With all segments of the community and I have seen other officers seek
hire out for advice and counsel.

respectfully request that officer Ian Baker be confirmed as a patrol officer for
the Kalispell Police Department. Officer Baer has successfally completed his one year
probationer period effective October , 2006.
Officer Baker most recently served with the Lewis and Clark Sheriff s orrice as a.
deputy. Ian began his professional career in the one Corp where he spent over four
years. During his tenure n the Corps Ian received the Navy and .Marine Achievement
Medat., the Maine Good Conduct Meda , the Coast Guard Meritofious Unit
Commendatior, Humamftarian Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Rifle
Expert and Pistol Shaipsootr Badge.
Officer Baker reached the rank of Sergeant while serving with the Marines and he
served in combat in Afghanistan. Ian has experience as a detention officer and he is a
graduate of Flathead High School.
I am confident that officer Baker recognizes the importance of the department's
shared values of honesty, itegfiy, professional competence, compassion, positive
