SUBJECT: Resolution No. 5128 Establishing a Fee Schedule for
Copies of Public Records from City offices
MEETING DATE: Monday, July 17 2006 — Regular Meeting
BACKGROUND: Council previously passed Resolution 4733, which established a
foe schedule for copies of public records provided by the City Clerk. This fee
schedule is the same schedule of fees as required. by all state offices. Most other
offices of the City also provide copies of public records to the public upon request.
Not all offices are charging the same amounts and some offices are requiring no
payment for copies. Resolution No. 5128 resolves those differences by setting a
standard foe schedule for all City offices.
RECOMMENDATION: That Council consider and pass Resolution 2 .
FISCAL EFFECTS: This resolution will provide a uniform fee schedule for copies
and ensure that the City is fairly reimbursed by the public for the use of this public
service.

A RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH A FEE SCHEDULE FOR COPIES of PUBLIC
RECORDS FROM CITY OFFICES.
WHEREAS, Resolution 4733 sets out the fee schedule for copies of public records and
certificationsfrom. the City Clerk and the Finance director, and
WHEREAS, nearly all other City offices receive requests for copies of City records, and
'"WHEREAS,, in order to recover the public cost of service, a fee schedule should be implemented
for this information.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY of
KALISPELL FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The fee schedule for providing a copy of a document or record:
For the first page of any document: 50 cents
For each subsequent page: 25 cents
SECTION 11. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage by the
City Council.
