03. Resolution 5134 - Budget Resolution - Special Lighting Districtk,,ity of Kali'spell REPORT TO. Mayor Kennedy and City Council Members FROM: Amy Robertson, Finance Director James H. 'atrik, City Manager SUBJECT. City Special Assessments MEETING DATE. August 21, 2006 BACKGROUND: The special assessment resolutions are adopted annually to provide a. levy to fund the costs of the city special programs finance by an assessment levy. The resolutions include the assessments for Lighting, Decorative Lighting, Solid Waste, Urban Forestry, Special Street Maintenance and Storm. Sewer. The only rate change is to the St n-n Sewer assessment which reflects an increase of 11. 5 % as previously recommended the facility plan approved by council. All other rates and classifications remain the same. RECOMMENDATION: Adoption f each resolution setting the assessments for Lighting, Decorative i .t g, Solid Waste, Urban Forestry, Special Street Maintenance and Storm Sewer. Patr1 k City Manager SOLUTION NO. 53 RESOLUTION .LEVYING AN ASSESSMENT FOR THE COST OF LIGHTING THE STREETS AND ALLEYS IN THE CITY SPECIAL LIGHTING DISTRICT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2006-2007. WHEREAS, the assessment cost of the Special Lighting District for the fiscal year 2006-2007 is estimated t $200,000.00, and VMEREAS, at a public hearing held on the 17th day of July, 2006, the City Council did consider all objections made to said estimate and to the basis of levy and assessment for payment for said cost. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY O SECTION 1, That a tax levied for the assessment cost, o $200,000.00, be in the amounts set opposite the description of each lot or parcel of land, as shorn by the special assessment lists on file in the office of the City Finance Director. SECTION 11. The amount of said tax shall be levied proportionately on an area basis in the amount of $.00300 per square foot of lot or parcel of land vItI tie distrt xt i streets r rights of way.
