Dear Mayor Kennedy,
March 6, 2007
I am writing to express my interest in filing the vacancy on the Conrad Mansion Board
of Directors. In addition to my interest in Historic Preservation, I believe my background
would be beneficial to the mansion operation.
Currently, I aim a teacher at Flathead High School in the Special Services department. I
teach a Job Skills classes, a Social Communication Class and collaborate with teachers in
Physics and Computer classes. I am also certified to teach History and Political Science.
In addition to a teaching degree, I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation
Management. My experience includes working with a Citizens' Board while employed
as the Parks and Recreation Director in Havre and a member board while employed as
the Athletic Director at the Elks Lodge in Kalispell.
In addition to my experience, I have a strong interest in local history of both the Flathead
Valley and the Tobacco Valley. I spent time exploring historical areas from rural school
houses to historical mansions. I understand the quandary of preserving facilities while
managing for their use.
I am willing to roll up my sleeves and pitch in with whatever work is necessary for the
operation of the Conrad Mansion and I believe I would be an asset as a board member. I
would be happy to discuss the details of my experience with you at any time. Feel free to
call me at any time. My home phone is 752-5362. My work phone is 751-3515.
