PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS,, an estimated 38 million people face hunger every day in the United States, including more than nine
million children; and
WHEREAS, each year letter carriers, in more than 10,000 cities and towns across America, collect non-perishable
food items donated by customers for the National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive - the largest annual one day
food drive in the nation; and
WHEREAS, postal employees in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Virgin
kw Islands collect food for delivery to food banks, pantries, and shelters; and
4t WHEREAS, since 1993 the "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive has collected over three quarters of a billion pounds
of food;
NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Pamela B. Kennedy, Mayor of the City of Kalispell, do hereby proclaim the 12th day -,of
May, 2007 as the
14TH ANNUAL STAMP OUT HUNGER FOOD DRIVE DAY
in the City of Kalispell and encourage all citizens to participate by placing non-perishable food items next to their
mailbox prior to mail delivery on May 12th.
