SUBJECT. Adopt 2008 Preliminary Budget and call for a Public Hearing
MEETING DATE: June 18, 2007
BACKGROUND. Annually, at the last meeting of the fiscal year, the council must
make a motion to adopt the preliminary budget. The budget is adopted as presented and a public
hearing date is set. After hearing the public, the council will take into consideration public
comment, make any changes and adopt a final budget in August. The finance department will
provide updated numbers in August for changes to the budget due to carryover's and revised
estimates. We will receive taxable values from the Department of Revenue by the 10th of
August. We will present for adoption the final budget resolutions at the meeting on August 20th.
The budget public hearing will be set for July 16th. Any taxpayer may appear concerning the
budget. A Preliminary budget is available at the reference desk at the Library. Copies are
available for sale (cost of printing) in the finance office. A reference copy is also available at
City Hall for use on site.
RECOMMENDATION: Motion to adopt the 2008 Preliminary Budget and call for public
hearing for July 1 Gth, 2007.
