Over the past six months our board has been reviewing several important projects. Those projects will be coming to fruition this year. In addition, I have had over 30 years experience covering planning issues as a nevus reporter. My current career as an appraiser has also given sae insights into planning issues. I am presently vice -chair of the board. Yours truly, Richard Hull February 26, 2007 Mayor and City Council of the City of Kalispell P.O. Box 1997, Kalispell, MT 59903 RE: Re -Appointment to the Kalispell City Planning Board and Zoning Commission Mayor and City Council Members, My appointed term on the city planning hoard expires this April and I respectfully request that you reconsider me for re -appointment. During my time of the board we have experienced the greatest amount of growth, both in population and in annexation, in our cities history. During this time I believe that we all have faced a learning curve and I feel that we as a hoard have made prior recommendations that we would consider now to be lacidng of certain items, I know that I personally do. Along with this knowledge, experience, and our planning staff members we are trying to incorporate the lessons we have learned into our future recommendations to the council. I have always felt that I can not control the direction our city is going but that I can only do my part to shape and guide it into the direction that the market takes it. I have always been an advocate for affordable housing in our community and feel that with the current availability of over 125 vacant city lots that this increased supply will help to facilitate this need. of course it is a difficult task to balance the health, welfare and safety of the community while achieving this and all we can do is try our best. I have been told by several council members that they appreciate the work that we on the board do and that its makes their decisions easier. I always appreciate hearing that and feel honored to be a part of the process that guides our city into the future. I have served four years on the planning board and believe that I still have something to contribute to our cities future. Thank you for your consideration, i, Timothy Norton April 17, 2007 Jim Williamson 110 Sherwood Lane Kalispell, MT 59901 Advisory Board Letter of Interest The Honorable Pamela B. Kennedy C/O City Clerk PO Box 1997 312 1" Avenue East .Kalispell, MT 59901 Dear Mayor Kennedy, I am writing to you as a resident and homeowner in the City of Kalispell with an interest in serving on an advisory board. I believe I could capably serve in the open position on the Planning Board and Zoning Commission. Like any aware member of this community, I recognize the pains of growth as the city extends its borders and takes on new commitments to public utilities, roads, emergency services, and an aware citizenry. I offer my energy and experience in land use issues to your consideration of interested candidates. I understand the technical aspects of development. As an employee of 48 Forth Civil Engineering Services for the past 4 years, I worked with planning regulations, design standards, construction practices, and public works staff on a daily basis. My discussion and decisions as a board member will reflect a practical approach rooted in feasibility and enforceability. I understand the impacts of development on land values. As an apprentice real estate appraiser in the surrounding communities of the Flathead Valley, I witnessed the tremendous growth that both fuels our economy and challenges our infrastructure. Good growth will balance the developer's burden of funding and maintaining resulting infrastructure with the need of attracting development to desired locations. I understand the need to protect vital resources. As Chemist and Microbiologist at Montana Environmental Lab (Kalispell) from 1995-2000, I analyzed water samples every day and realized how fortunate we are to have clean water. Good growth will keep it that way. I understand the area 's history. As a product of the local school system and graduate of Flathead High School, I remember the local landscape of the past 20+ years. Growth that resembles the community of our past will appeal more to those who might otherwise oppose it. I am committed to my community. I made a choice to settle in my home town and make a life here with my family; I want to serve this community in the hope that my infant daughter will grow up and want to make that same choice. Please consider my interest and this summary of qualifications in your review of candidates for open positions on city advisory hoards. I may be contacted by home phone (257.3568) or work phone (756.4848) for further discussion. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Ji —Williamson
