Patrick, City Manager Kalispell Community Lifesaving Award 12/17/2007 BACKGROUND: On November 25th at 4:32 PM Kalispell Fire Department responded to West Venture real estate office on 1st Avenue East, for a medical emergency. Five personnel arrived in less than three minutes and found cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) being given to a pulseless and unconscious patient, by real estate agent Chris Fraser. Mr. Fraser was speaking with a customer, Michael Golembeski, when Mr. Golembeski had a cardiac episode which caused his heart to stop beating. Mr. Fraser called 9_1-1 then started CPR. Within a minute of being on scene Kalispell paramedics defibrillated the patient. The patient immediately developed a strong pulse and blood pressure. Paramedics continued with a very intensive medical protocol, and then transported Mr. Golembeski to Kalispell Regional Medical Center Emergency. Kalispell responded with two paramedics on the ambulance and three on the fire engine. The lead paramedic was Joe Hansen, assisted by paramedic Brandon French. Paramedics on the fire engine were Captain Gave Dedman, Lieutenant Craig Fischer, and Firefighter Timothy Gaston. RECOMMENDATIONS: Council approves the presentation of the Kalispell Community Life Saving Award to Chris Fraser, for his heroic efforts during the saving of a life. { y rodehl, Fire Chief James H.
