Patrick, City Manager SUBJECT: 2009 Parrs District Budget appropriation memo MEETING DATE: August 18, 2008 BACKGROUND: The annual appropriation for the Park Maintenance District is $501,969. The assessment requested would generate approximately $ 5 5 0, 000 which would provide a cash reserve (carryover) of about 10%. Assessments are received twice a year in December and June from the Flathead County Treasurer. It will be necessary to build a reserve to allow a carryover June 3 01h for operation to be funded until the next payment in December. This resolution approves the budget appropriation and authorizes the special maintenance district levy as presented in the Resolution. RECOMMENDATION: Adoption of Resolution. Patrick City Manager RESOLUTION NO.5296 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPROPRIATION AND LEVYING AN ASSESSMENT FOR THE COST OF PARKS MAINENTANCE IN THE CITY FOR. THE FISCAL YEAR. 2008-2009. WHEREAS, the assessment cost of the Parks Maintenance District for the fiscal year 2008-2009 is estimated to be $550,000.00, and WHEREAS, the appropriation amount budgeted is $501,969 for FY2009 for operations of the Parks Maintenance District, and WHEREAS, at a public hearing held on the 4th day of August, Zoos, the City Council did consider all objections made to said estimate and to the basis of levy and assessment for payment for said cost. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL, MONTANA: SECTION I. That a tax levied for the assessment cost, or $550,000.00, be in the amounts set opposite the description of each lot or parcel of land, as shown by the special assessment lists on file in the office of the City Finance Director. SECTION II. The amount of said tax shall be levied proportionately on a square foot basis in the amount of $.0055 per lot or parcel of land within the district except public streets or rights of way. Tax levy amount shall be capped at $150.00 per residential parcel and $500 per commercial (non-residential) parcel. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AND SIGNED BY THE MAYOR.
