City Manager Jane Howington
312 1" Avenue East
Kalispell, MT 59901
Dear Ms. Howington,
I respectfully request that Officer Cory Clarke be confirmed as a patrol officer for
the Kalispell Police Department. Officer Clarke has successfully completed his one
year probationary period effective November 3, 2009.
Officer Clarke is a Montana native and a graduate of Flathead High School. After
high school he went on to receive a bachelor's degree from MSU Northern in
drafting/civil engineering with a concentration in psychology. Subsequently he
owned his own utility consulting business locally, prior to being hired by
Northwestern Energy as a utility estimator.
After only six months as a police Officer, he was summonsed to the scene of a
homicide by shooting. As you can imagine it was a very stressful, rapidly evolving
scene where Officer Clarke assisted other officers in safely locating and detaining
the suspect while controlling a hostile and violent third party. Officer Clarke
performed these duties exceptionally well and was commended for his calm under
pressure and his professionalism.
Officer Clarke has demonstrated throughout the last year that his ethics, values,
and integrity are well -suited to the Kalispell Police Department's Mission and
Values Statement.
It is my pleasure to recommend the confirmation of Officer Cory Clarke.
Sinc ely,
