ENGINEERING DIVISION
• Attended project review meeting with MDT for their maintenance building expansion.
• Continued support of the Kalispell Carbon Monoxide TAC.
• Consultant continued investigation of Grandview Well #2 to determine corrective action for sand
problem.
• Continued monitoring concrete alley paving strength in First Alley East.
• PP&L and TCI Communications have completed 90% of the work necessary to convert to
underground facilities in First Alley East.
• Tax Increment Sidewalk Project is 95% complete.
• Assigned addresses for Center Street Plaza and Dr. Woods' Subdivision.
• Reviewed and approved applications for driveway construction for Noon's gas station and Trinity
Lutheran School.
• Reviewed and approved two Century Tel applications to construct telephone lines in City right-of-
way.
• Updated City Special Assessments to September 14" deadline.
• Prepared drawing for chlorine building for Public Works engineering.
• Prepared City maps in response to numerous requests for information.
• Prepared sidewalk drawings to identify replacement requirements.
• Upgraded computer for the Assistant City Engineer.
• Conducted initial field survey for Woodland Park Drive, Anderson R/W — boundary line
adjustment.
• Set three intersection monuments, two 1/a corners and one section corner.
• Responded to miscellaneous R/W and boundary line questions.
• Continued talks with FVCC Survey Department to find a survey work-study student for this school
year.
• Inspected the roofing and decking on both ground level reservoirs.
• Prioritized and scheduled the design on FY 99 Public Works Capital Improvement Projects.
• Assistant City Engineer attended a one -day seminar in Missoula with Ben Van Dyke. It was on
source water protection and the SDWA and was sponsored by the Montana Rural Water Systems
and DEQ.

c;� SANITARY/STORM SEWER DIVISION
• Continued video and jet cleaning of sewer lines Monday through Thursday.
• Performed weekly maintenance of fifteen lift stations each Friday.
• Cleaned/video 2900' of sewer main line at the Willows Subdivision.
• Pumped failed septic tank at Woodland Park's main restroom.
• Attended Safety Meeting on 9/16/98.
SOLID WASTE DIVISION
• Delivered 15 containers to new customers.
• Repaired 5 containers and responded to 3 violations.
• Continued weekly garbage service.
• Continued weekly alley cleanup.

STREET DIVISION
• Continued alley grading and street sweeping.
• Chipped tree branches.
• Assisted the Water and Solid Waste Divisions.

• Replenished gravel stockpile at City maintenance yard.

WATER DIVISION
WATER PUMPING & STORAGE:
• Produced 127 M gallons of water: 38 M gallons upper zone and 89 M gallons lower zone.
• Continued routine maintenance on all pumps, motors, grounds, buildings, controls, testing and
record keeping.
• Conducted lead and copper samplings.

• Conducted fire hydrant flow tests.
• Assisted TD & H Engineering on sand test at the Grandview Well.
• Conducted tours of water system for School District #5 children.
• Gathered data for hydrologist RFP/RFQ to assess Noffsinger Spring.
• Assisted with inspections of reservoir roofs.
• Repaired holes in reservoir roofs.
• Shut off domestic water at Lawrence Park until further repairs are made to septic system.
• Programmed computer to generate reports.
• Attended training seminar on ground water under the influence of surface water, well head
protection and source water protection plan.
• Reviewed plans for chlorine injecting equipment.
WA TER CONSTR UCTION AND SYSTEM REPAIR:
• Tagged 26 delinquent accounts.
• Delivered 15 water meters.
• Completed 74 work orders during the month of September.
• Repaired water service at 33 East Wyoming
• Repaired valve box at East Center and 1" Avenue East.
• Replaced water service at:

• Initiated and completed installation of 1440' of 8" water main at the City Airport.

v TRAFFIC SIGNS & SIGNALS DIVISION
• Continued maintenance of traffic signals, lights, signs, and meters.
• Painted school crosswalks and standard crosswalks.
• Striped City streets that were chip sealed and overlayed.
• Installed stop signs at 8" Avenue West and 8"' Street West.
• Installed poles for bike path by water tower.
• Furnished barricades and candles for the cross-country race at Woodland Park.
• Painted the handicapped curbs blue in the downtown area.
• Assisted with delivery of stolen bicycles to the City auction.
• Moved two signs in the Buffalo Stage Subdivision at homeowner's request.
• Changed bulbs in the decorative lights in the downtown area.
• Pulled new wires for service at the Hwy 2 East and Hwy 35 signal.
• Attended Safety Meeting on 9/16/98.

WASTEWATER TREATMENT DIVISION
® 32 Work orders were completed during the month of September.
• 341 Lab Tests were performed during the month of September.
• 19 Loads of sludge were hauled during September.
• The Plant Manager, Joni Emrick, has been appointed by the Governor to serve on the Water and
Wastewater Operator's Advisory Council. Her term begins October 16"' and lasts for six years.
• There were no discharge permit violations in August. The total flow for -the month was 56.5
million gallons; the average daily flow was 1.8 million gallons.
