Dear Clarence:
I am excited to inform you we have received our CTEP Project
Modification from M.D.T. Funds are now banked and available for the
continuation of general project development and construction of the Meridian Road
Walkway.
The following is a recap of the project scope and a brief historic description
for your information.
Phase I: Preliminary Engineering - design a 0.5 mile pedestrian walkway along
the east side of Meridian Road, from 7th Street West (Ashley Creek)
North to Idaho Street.
(A) Mapping $3,150.00
(B) Environmental documentation 750.00
(C) Preliminary project plans 5,300.00
(D) Preliminary cost estimate 750.00
Total 9 950.00
Phase H: Final design and construction for a pedestrian walkway project that
includes: A concrete and asphalt pedestrian path approximately 4,170-
feet in length and 5-feet wide along Meridian Road from 7t' Street West
(Ashley Creek) to Idaho street (US Highway No.2). Bicycle racks,
pedestrian benches, safety pavement markings, and signs, pedestrian
railroad track crossing and the planting of trees in accordance with
current design standards and ADA requirements.
(A) Plans & specifications for bidding, $4,400.00
Bidding and negotiation
(B) Right-of-way/Easement Acquisition 6,380.00
(C) construction Engineering 9,200.00
Total SJ9,980,00
The total estimated cost of the project development and construction totals
is $105,060.00.
This project is an 80% Federal, 20% Local Match. It began in 1991 as a 3'
priority for project selection. In 1994 we began Phase I. The accumulated funds in
the CTEP Bank show we are now eligible to follow through with bidding and
construction of Phase H.
Work will be bid this Spring, with construction scheduled late Summer,
prior to school beginning, depending on the rate in which MDT processes the
projects paper work.
At this time I am requesting authorization to proceed with Phase H of the
project including design, bidding and construction.
