Boharski, Mayor City Council Members FROM: Mike Baker, Parks Director RE: October Activity Report DATE: October 28, 1999 Parks & Recreation Highlights: • Construction is well underway for the Woodland Park DREAM Phase III. • Montana High School State Soccer Tournament at Airport Soccer Fields October 28, 29 & 30 ISTEA• 1. Woodland Park DREAM Phase III completed. Construction is well underway for the Woodland Park DREAM Phase III. 2. Design for Phase II North Main/Lawrence Park approved by MDT, Bridge Design underway. Environmental review continuing. (relocated site for river crossing). River easement proceeding. 3. Meridian Road Walkway - trees are planted and construction is completed. Project will be finalized this week. 4. Meridian Trail Connector/Highway 93 to KYAC Trail, approved by MDT. Consultant recommended, awaiting approval. DBE is set at 0%. Youth Athletic Complex: Irrigation system completed at new KYAC Soccer Fields. Drag and fertilize the Complex fields; installed chain link fence, door and siding at Complex; paint dugouts; Eagle Scout Project planted trees. Begg Park Master Plan: Roadside trail completed, landscaping and trees being installed. Phase II under review. Bidding irrigation. Lawrence Park: Irrigation project being installed to the remainder of the high use area. Seeded new irrigation. Tree replacement underway. Parks Department - Ken Bauska, Foreman: Maintenance Tasks: • work on flower beds at Lawrence Park; deliver trees to KYAC for Eagle Scout project; place brick in ballfields at KYAC; install benches and picnic tables to various locations; replace basketball hoops at Hawthorne Park; top dress Archie Roe and Laker Fields; install new benches in Woodland; daily rest room and pavilion cleaning and garbage removal. Seasonal Maintenance: • shut down irrigation at Hawthorn, Archie Roe, Lawrence, KYAC, Washington; Green briar, Lions, Airport Soccer, Woodland, Sewer, Ponderosa, Begg; Northridge, Hockaday; • pull flowers in Woodland Park, Depot Park, City Hall; • vacuum leaves at Woodland Park, Depot Park; • paint dugouts at KYAC; • fill in Pee Wee baseball fields; • spread chips at playgrounds; • work on fields at KYAC; • plug and fill holes at Airport Soccer fields; • plant hostas at City Hall; • weed and water gardens (Woodland, City Hall, Depot and Lions); • spray herbicides at Depot Park, Peterson, Sylvan, Woodland, Ponderosa, Park View, Laker Field, City Airport; Urban Forestry - Michael Baker, Urban Forester: • Trees -to -Paper -to -Trees paper drive held October 2, 1999, with a good turn -out; V Recreation Depart. - C. Bohannan & J. Reese, Recreation Coordinators: Falls getting over, and the cold is a coming, the days are getting short. Registration, scheduling and commencement of 204 Little Dribblers (18 teams) .
