ACTIVITY REPORT
August 1999

RE: August Activity Report
DATE: August 31, 1999
Parks & Recreation Highlights:
• Completed construction of Meridian Trail Walkway;
• Summer Recreation Programs are winding down;
• Bruckhauser Pool closed.
ISTEA:
1. Preliminary design of Woodland Park DREAM Phase III
completed. Advertised for bids. Pre bid meeting held.
2. Design for Phase II North Main/Lawrence Park approved by MDT,
Bridge Design underway (relocated site for river crossing).
3. Meridian Road Walkway/construction completed:
4. Submitted project for the Meridian Road/Highway 93 to KYAC
Trail, to the Montana Department of Transportation. DBE is
set at 0%.
Youth Athletic Complex: Soccer fields seeded; dugout roofs
installed. Paving complete, backstops and fencing started, grass
is growing. Bleachers and player benches ordered and received.
Netting ordered. Meeting with various organizations on scheduling
maintenance of KYAC. Review trail plan and landscaping plan.
BegQ Park Master Plan: Roadside trail completed, landscaping and
trees being installed. Phase II under review.
Lawrence Park: Irrigation project being installed to the remainder
of the high use area.
Woodland, Thompson & Peterson Fields: Old bleachers removed from
ballfields (Fry Field II removed and renovated to soccer field).
Woodland, Thompson, Meridian Park: Old bleachers removed from ball
fields.

V Parks Department - Ken Bauska, Foreman:
Maintenance Tasks:
• Irrigation system near completion at new KYAC Soccer Fields;
mow and trim all 24 City Parks, ballfields and City Airport;
drag and fertilize the Complex fields; installed chain link
fence, door and siding at Complex; install benches and picnic
tables to various locations; daily rest room and pavilion
cleaning and garbage removal.
Seasonal Maintenance:
• overseed Archie Row, Depot Park and Lions Park;
• irrigate Complex, Lawrence, Woodland, Depot, Begg, Lions,
Hawthorne, Shop, Ponderosa, Northridge, Thompson, Washington,
new Soccer fields (everywhere);
• weed Potentilla shrubs, Lawrence Park gardens, City Shop;
• weedwhip Woodland, Lawrence, Northridge, Lions, Lakers, Kelly
Road, Complex, City Shop, Thompson, Depot, Lakers, Meridian;
• weed and water gardens (Woodland, City Hall, Depot and Lions);
• fix various ballfields fences;
• spray herbicides at Depot Park, Peterson, Sylvan, Woodland,
Ponderosa, Park View, Laker Field, City Airport;
i Urban Forestry - Michael Baker, Urban Forester:
• update and install tree rings;
• fertilize tree wells;
• plant 18 trees in tax increment district, Lawrence Park, Begg
Park and Woodland Park;
Recreation Depart. - C. Bohannan & J. Reese,
Recreation Coordinators:
The end of Summer programs ended with great success. Camp
kids enjoying a day at the Fair and Seniors becoming
physically stronger being involved in outdoor activities.
