Boharski, Mayor City Council Members Mike Baker, Parks Director July Activity Report July 28, 1999 Parks & Recreation Highlights: Summer Recreation Programs are in full swing; Summer Park Maintenance tasks are full speed ahead; • Plant shrubs on Woodland Park Lagoon bank; • Finished the 3r1 Session of Swim Lessons (busiest session of the season); ISTEA- 1. Preliminary design of Woodland Park DREAM Phase III completed. Received authorization from MDT to go out for bids. 2. Design for Phase II North Main/Lawrence Park approved by MDT, Bridge Design underway (relocated site for river crossing). 3. Meridian Road Walkway bid award to Sandon Construction. Construction started. Work on right-of-way easements continue. 4. Submitted project for the Meridian Road/Highway 93 to KYAC Trail, to the Montana Department of Transportation. Youth Athletic Complex: Soccer fields seeded; dugout roofs installed. Paving complete, backstops and fencing started, grass is growing - total project = 90 percent complete. Bleachers and player benches ordered and received. Netting ordered. Meeting with various organizations on scheduling maintenance of KYAC. Review trail plan and landscaping plan. Begg Park Master Plan: Roadside trail completed, landscaping and trees being installed. Boharski City Council Members July 28, 1999 Page 2 Parks Department - Ken Bauska, Foreman: Maintenance Tasks: • install irrigation system at new KYAC Soccer Fields; mow and trim all 24 City Parks, ballfields and City Airport; drag and fertilize the Complex fields; install chain link fence, door and siding at Complex; landscape Lawrence Park for stone gardens; load and haul trash out of Dry Bridge Park; repair various ballfield fences; haul benches and picnic tables to various locations; daily rest room and pavilion cleaning and garbage removal. Seasonal Maintenance: • overseed Archie Row, Depot Park and Lions Park; • irrigate Complex, Lawrence, Woodland, Depot, Begg, Lions, Hawthorn, Shop, Ponderosa, Northridge, Thompson, Washington, new Soccer fields (everywhere); • weed Potentilla shrubs, Lawrence Park gardens, City Shop; • weedwhip Woodland, Lawrence, Northridge, Lions, Lakers, Kelly Road, Complex, City Shop, Thompson, Depot, Lakers, Meridian; • weed and water gardens (Woodland, City Hall, Depot and Lions); • set up soaker irrigation at Depot & Woodland Gardens; • fix various ballfields fences; • wash the fish statute at Depot Park; • spray herbicides at Depot Park, Peterson, Sylvan, Woodland, Ponderosa, Park View, Laker Field, City Airport; I - Urban Forestry - Michael Baker, Urban Forester: • update and install tree rings; • fertilize tree wells; • plant 18 trees in tax increment district, Lawrence Park, Begg Park and Woodland Park; I- Recreation Depart. - C.
