Adoption of Preliminary Budgets and Notice of Public HearingREPORT TO: FROM: SUBJECT: MEETING DATE l0lotr, Mayor Boharski and City Council Members Amy Robertson, Finance Director Chris Kukulski, City Manager Adoption of Preliminary Budgets -City Preliminary, City -County Health, Parking Commission and FRDO. June 21, 1999 BACKGROUND: The City Council is required to adopt the Preliminary Budgets prior to July 10". The adoption of the budget in no way precludes the Council's ability to critique the budget documents and make changes. The budget is adopted as presented in the Preliminary Budget documents. Corrections and adjustments will be made prior to adoption of the final budgets. Adopting of the Preliminary Budget will allow the staff to properly notice the process for public hearing and final adoption. RECOMMENDATION: A motion for approval of the Preliminary Budgets is required. ALTERNATIVES: Amy 14. Kukulski City Manager Post Office Box 1997 • Kalispell, Montana 59903-1997 Telephone (406) 758-7700 • FAX (406) 758-7758 NOTICE OF BUDGET HEARING Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Kalispell has reviewed their Preliminary Budget for the current fiscal year and said budget is open to inspection in the Finance Office and the Flathead County, Library. The City Council will meet on Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at-7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall to conduct a formal Budget Hearing and transact regular business. Any taxpayer may appear concerning the budget. The hearing may be continued from day to day as required. On Monday August 2, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, the City Council will meet to adopt the final budget. Adoption of the budget sets the level of service, tax levies may be fixed at the August 2nd meeting or a future meeting depending upon the availability of the City valuations from the Department of Revenue. The Legislature has extended the date for fixing the levies.
