The Kalispell Fire Department responded to thirteen calls for the month. The fire loss
was approximately $10,500.00. The calls are as follows:

The Kalispell Fire Department Ambulance responded to two hundred and two calls for
the month. The calls are as follow:

In addition the fire department accomplished thirty-six business inspections. A training
exercise was held in conjunction with Amerigas Propane Company at their facility on
Fourth Avenue East
A 1999.ambulance was also placed in service, and a 1982 ambulance was taken out of
service and placed in the city shops.

! Parks & Recreation Highlights:
• Parks and Recreation meeting with new City Manager, Chris
Kukulski;
• Circulation of historic Summer Brochure;
• Plant Gardens;
• Approval to advertise Meridian Walkway for bids;
ISTEA: Preliminary design of Woodland Park DREAM Phase III
completed. Design for Phase II North Main/Lawrence Park
approved by MDT, Bridge Design underway (relocated site for
river crossing). Advertize for bids for Meridian Road
Walkway; submitted plans to MDT. Submitted project for the
Meridian Road/Highway 93 to KYAC Trail, to the Montana
Department of Transportation.
Youth Athletic Complex: Bleachers and player benches have been
setup. Maintenance started at KYAC. Review trail plan and
landscaping plan. Kalispell Youth Athletic Complex begins play
on fields. Softball started. Soccer field in process of being
seeded. Two buildings, water, drinking fountain and trash
have been put in at KYAC. Irrigation at soccer field going
in. KYAC is a great success and we have received many
compliments.
Bega Park Master Plan, Met with consultant, began work on Master
plan overview, and met with Jerry Begg (on site). Gathering
estimates for trail work and landscaping top priority.

t Parks Department - Ken Bauska, Foreman:
Maintenance Tasks:
• Remove fence from Daley Fields and relocate to KYAC; clean
pavilions at Woodland and Lawrence Park; repair fences at ball
field; install bleachers at complex, assemble dugout bench and
pour concrete at sports complex for fencing; clean flower beds
and plant flowers at Parks and City Hall; fertilize trees
downtown; mow all 24 parks and fields (370 acres); install
bleacher at complex; daily rest room cleaning and garbage
removal.
Seasonal Maintenance:
• Energize all City Park Restrooms;
• Start up and repair of all City Park irrigation systems;
Urban Forestry - Michael Baker, Urban Forester:
• Planting began for Urban Forestry, 29 trees planted;

Recreation Coordinators:
• The program Little Dribblers is finishing up with 125 youth
playing every Saturday. The After School Sports Camp averages
16 youngsters going on a field trip every Monday and playing
sports on Wednesday and Fridays. The last weekend of May is
our annual Fleer Baseball Diamond Skills program competing on
throwing/fielding, running and batting.
• Frequent Monthly Duties: Vouchers, Marketing, Administrative
work, answering phones, assisting participants, taking
registrations.

With Summer quickly approaching the Recreation Department is
busy preparing for recreational activities that include
outdoor and sports programs. Seniors are enjoying Spring
walks in getting themselves ready for Summer Hikes.
Birdwatching is good with many new arrivals of song birds
and water fowl.
