9 ENGINEERING DIVISION
• Met with MDT in Missoula to review area transportation projects and construction schedules.
• Met with engineer for Waterford development to review annexation and development issues.
• Conducted kick-off meeting with utilities for extension of ls` Alley East project.
• Continued preparation of FY 99/00 budgets.
• Met with principles of Westbrook Square regarding eligibility of improvements for TIF funding.
• Met with Downtown Business Assn. regarding proposed changes in parking, signs and sidewalks.
• Reviewed design plans for US 93 South ahead of MDT plan in hand meeting.
• Met with Administration and residents of Buffalo Hill Terrace and continued to discuss sidewalk
installation on Claremont Street.
• Continue to design and process 1999 Construction Projects.
• Responded to the request to abandon ? Alley WN between Idaho and Montana Street.
• Kelly Road Lift Station Project is 90% complete. All new sewer lines have been installed and new
pumps are currently on line.
• Completed final punch list for Willows Subdivision Phase I.
• Preparing bid specifications for overlay and chip seal projects.
• Continued development of utility line locations on AutoCAD map utilizing as -built and record
drawings.
• Completed reorganization of section maps and Certificates of Survey from Flathead County.
• Completed and filed with Flathead County a Certificate of Survey drawing for monuments set
during last field season.
• Prepared ortho photo worksheets for Lutheran Home/hospital area sidewalk projects.
• Reviewed WWTP rim drive heating design.
• Initiated an Agreement for Engineering Services for the design of the Liberty lift station re -build.
• Completed the Noffsinger bypass pumping system.

• Continued regular maintenance of City vehicles and machinery.
9 SANITARY/STORM SEWER DIVISION
• Continued video and jet cleaning of sewer lines Monday through Thursday.
• Performed weekly maintenance of fifteen lift stations each Friday.
• Pumped Woodland Park holding tank.
• Worked with Contractor at lift station #5 installing new sewer main.
• Rooted sewer main lines at 2" d Alley East/ 7"' and at 5"' Alley EN and Washington Street.
• Long Machinery delivered new Cat backhoe.
SOLID WASTE DIVISION
• Delivered 11 containers to new customers.
• Repaired 4 containers and responded to 5 violations.
• Continued weekly garbage service.
• Continued weekly alley cleanup.
STREET DIVISION
• Continued sanding and deicing of alleys and streets.
• Chipped branches in alleys.
• Tree removal at 311 4"' Avenue West, 800 block of 2nd Avenue West, 800 block of 3rd Avenue
West, and 500 block of 3rd Avenue East.
• Ongoing sweeping of City streets.
• Assisted Water Division.
• Cracked sealed Harrison Blvd. and Farview Drive.
DWATER DIVISION
WATER PUMPING & STORAGE:
• Produced 56 M gallons of water: 11 M gallons upper zone and 45 M gallons lower zone.
• Injected 113 gallons of 12% sodium hypochlorite.
• Continued routine maintenance on all pumps, motors, grounds, buildings, controls, testing and
record keeping.

WATER PUMPING & STORAGE continued...
• Replaced pump packing at Buffalo Hill and Depot Wells.
• Installed dust free radio control box for telemetry control system.
• Complied data for Consumer Confidence Report.
• Worked on Lawrence Park Bypass/Test Pumping System.
• Painted interior piping at Depot, Armory, and Buffalo Hill wells.
• Repaired several chlorine pumps and injectors.
• Located valves and mains for Engineering Department.
• Installed water heater at the Grandview Well.
• Assisted meter installer and field crews.
• Reprogrammed generator timing sequences at the Grandview Well.
WATER CONSTRUCTIONAND SYSTEMREPAIR:
• Tagged 92 delinquent accounts on the west side of Kalispell.
• Delivered 31 water meters.
• Completed 72 work orders during the month of February.
• Filled fire hydrants with oil.
Replaced curb box and rod at 838 2nd Avenue East.
• Repaired gate at north end of City yard.
• Removed old fire hydrants at 426 5' Avenue East and 928 4"' Avenue East.
• Repaired water main at 569 5t" Avenue WN.
• Removed old fire hydrants from center of block at 320 4"' Avenue East, 220 4"' Avenue East,
and 28 4"' Avenue East.
• Backfilled at Lawrence Park.
• Cleaned the Water Division warehouse.
• Built and installed awning for the Water Division warehouse.
• Repaired valve box at Cherry Lane and Crestview Drive.
• Repaired water main break at Sherwood and Ashley Court.
DTRAFFIC SIGNS & SIGNALS DIVISION
• Regular maintenance of signals, signs, luminaries, barricades, sight obstructions, and Airport
lighting.
• Replaced two Opticom heads at Hwy 93 North and North Meridian Road.
• Replaced two broken globes, four bulbs, and one head on decorative light that was hit by a
vehicle.
• Met with MDOT personnel on the Idaho Signal Upgrade - Meridian Road to East Reserve
Drive.
• Assisted MDOT personnel with the cycling problem with the light located at Hwy 93 South
and Hwy 35 (Polson).

DWASTEWATER TREATMENT DIVISION
• 57 Work orders were completed during the month of February.
• 247 Lab Tests were performed during the month of February.
• 13 Loads of sludge were hauled during February.
• The January Discharge Permit report did not have any violations. The total flow for January was
51.4 million gallons; the average daily flow was 1.7 million gallons.
• The Plant Manager attended the Montana Rural Water Systems Annual Conference in Great Falls.

Re: Joint Cities -County Meeting
Kalispell is scheduled to host the next Joint Cities -County Meeting March 29th. I have written
to the County, Whitefish and Columbia Falls and have asked for agenda items by March 17th.
Please let me know as soon as possible if there are any specific agenda items you would like
to discuss at this meeting. I would also appreciate a note on whether you plan on attending
to provide adequate seating for everyone. This is my first joint meeting, so I would appreciate
any advice you may have.
