RE: Appointment to the Board of Adjustment
Dear Honorable Mayor and Councilmen,
This is a request to be appointed to the Kalispell Board of Adjustment. I am very familiar with
the zoning regulations and policies of the City.
I began working in the field of planning in 1979 in Maricopa County, Arizona. I moved to
California in 1989 to work with the City of Lancaster's Planning Department. I then moved to
Kalispell in 1993 where I began working with FRDO until 1996. For the past three and a half
years I have been providing consulting services to the public. I would like to bring this 20 years
of experience in both the public and private sector to you.
I can bring to the Board and Council my experiences and expertise on such zoning matters as
variances and interpretations and as well as experience in Master Plans, Neighborhood Plans,
Overall Development Plans, Subdivision Regulations, and environmental regulations. How the
regulations and guidelines are interpreted will have far reaching impacts on the growth of the
City and the Valley. These regulations and guidelines should be designed to allow for practical
and alternative design solutions for development.
Sincerely,
John Parsons, AICP
