SUBJECT: Bids for Wastewater Bio-Solids Hauling Truck
MEETING DATE: March 20, 2000
BACKGROUND: The current Wastewater Treatment budget includes funding of $110,000.00 for a
replacement bio-solids haul truck. A single bid was received from METCO Kenworth. After careful review
of the bid specifications, we have determined that all items were met or exceeded. We recommend
acceptance of the bid from METCO Kenworth in the amount of 102,023.00. The Street Superintendent's
evaluation is attached for information. Due to the highly corrosive nature of the materials being hauled,
included in this bid is the cost of a corrosion resistant dump body and wheels. These items have been the
source of problems with the current equipment. The current truck dump body was specially modified after
purchase to repair corrosion problems. The bid price shown does not include a radio that will be added
after delivery at an approximate cost of $500.00.
RECOMMENDATION: Accept the bid of METCO Kenworth to supply a new bio-solids haul truck.
FISCAL EFFECTS: Expenditure of budgeted Wastewater Treatment replacement funds totaling
$102,023.00. This is $7,977.00 less than the amount budgeted. In addition, approximately $500.00 will be
spent to equip the unit with a radio. The total expenditure will be $102,523.00.
