Mr. Kukulski,
I respectfully request that Officer Kevin McCarvel be confirmed as a Patrolman for the
Kalispell Police Department. Officer McCarvel has successfully completed his one-year
probationary period as of July 14, 2000.
Officer McCarvel is an outstanding officer and ambassador for this department and our
city. Kevin has superior personal skills and he has exemplary work habits. He is known as a
compassionate and competent officer with extremely high moral and ethical standards.
Officer McCarvel is a team player with a strong desire to constantly strive to improve
himself and those around him. I know that as a department we have been made better as a result
of Kevin's presence.
When confirmed, Kevin will be presented with his first Kalispell Police Department full
shield badge during his confirmation hearing with the council on July 17, 2000. That badge
symbolizes his commitment to our department and this community, to our ethical and
professional standards and to the profession of policing.
In accepting his shield Kevin recognizes that it is a symbol of public faith, and he accepts
it as a public trust to be held so long as he is true to the ethics of the police service. He must be
and I know he will be solemn in his oath to constantly strive to achieve these objectives and
ideals, dedicating himself to this community in his chosen profession of law enforcement.
Kevin has earned the right to wear the full shield badge for this city and I wish to give
him my highest personal and professional recommendation for confirmation as a police officer
with the Kalispell Police Department.
Sincerely,
Chief of Police
