Resolution 4575 - Urban ForestryON of Kalispell Post Office Box 1997 • Kalispell, Montana 59903-1997 • Telephone (406) 758-7700 • FAX (406) 758-7758 REPORT TO: FROM: SUBJECT: MEETING DATE: Mayor Boharski and City Council Members Amy Robertson, Finance Director Chris Kukulski, City Manager Urban Forestry assessments August 7, 2000 BACKGROUND: The resolution is adopted to provide a levy to fund the cost of the Urban Forestry District. It is a new district. The assessment fee is set at .000675 per square foot of all parcels and lots in the City. The assessment will be capped at a maximum of $150.00 per parcel which is equivalent to parcels with 111,111 square feet. RECOMMENDATION: Adoption of resolution setting the assessments for Urban Forestry. FISCAL EFFECTS: The City anticipates receiving $60,000 in revenue to be used for the costs associated with the Urban Forestry program in the City. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by Council. Amy H. Kukulski City Manager WHEREAS, the assessment cost of the Urban Forestry District for the fiscal year 2000-2001 is estimated to be $60,000.00, and WHEREAS, at a public hearing held on the 17th day of July, 2000, the City Council did consider all objections made to said estimate and to the basis of levy and assessment for payment for said cost. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL, MONTANA: SECTION I. That a tax be levied for the assessment cost, or $60,000.00, be in the amounts set opposite the description of each lot or parcel of land, as shown by the special assessment lists on file in the office of the City Finance Director. SECTION II. The amount of said tax shall be levied proportionately on a square foot basis in the amount of $.000675 per lot or parcel of land wn the district except public streets or rights of way.
