SUBJECT: Bids for 26 Yard Tandem Azle Garbage Truck
MEETING DATE: September 18, 2000
BACKGROUND: The current Solid Waste budget includes finding of $160,000.00 for a replacement
garbage truck Three potential bidders collected the bid specifications. A single bid was received from Kois
Brothers Equipment for 2001 model year unit that is virtually identical to the Heil unit purchased last year.
The Street Superintendent's evaluation is attached for information This bid is higher than that offered for
virtually identical equipment just supplied to satisfy a similar bid last budget year. Among these factors we
are advised that a chassis manufacturer's rebate has been discontinued, and the suppliers of items of major
equipment that comprise the assembled vehicle have increased their prices to Heil. After review and
consideration, we recommend acceptance of the bid from Kois Brothers in an amount of $159,265.00. The
Kois bid price does not include a radio that will be added after delivery at an approximate cost of $500.00.
RECOMMENDATION: Accept the bid of Kois Brothers Equipment bid to supply a 26-yard garbage
truck.
FISCAL EFFECTS: Expenditure of budgeted Solid Waste funds totaling $159,765.00 comprised of
S 159,265 for the truck and $500.00 for the radio.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Council

Re: Automated Refuse Packer Bid
Transport Equipment, Ameri-Tech Equipment, and Kois Brothers Equipment all
received bid packages for the Automated Refuse Packer. Kois Brothers Equipment
was the sole bidder. Kois met all specifications and came in under budget with a bid
of $159,265.00.
I recommend that we accept the Kois Brothers Equipment bid and purchase one
2001 Volvo WXR64 Truck equipped with a current model year Heil 7000 26 YD
Automated Refuse Packer.
