SUBJECT: Bids for Muld Master Leaf Loader
MEETING DATE: September 18, 2000
BACKGROUND: The current Special Street Maintenance budget includes funding of SW,000.00 for a
replacement leaf machine. A single bidder meted the bid specifications. A bid was received from Triple
W Equipment for a Mulch Master Leaf Machine and hopper. The Street Superintendent's evaluation is
attached for information. After review and consideraxion, we recommend acceptance of the bid from Triple
W in an amount of $51,100.00 for the basic machine. The Triple W bid price includes a price of $3,300.00
for a steel hopper to fit in a standard dump truck. This hopper increases the capacity of the holding vehicle,
reduces dust, and shields operators from thrown debris that occasionally exits the machine at high velocity -
We recommend purchase of two hoppers at the bid price. Two hoppers will allow uninterrupted work while
one truck is away from the job to unload.
RECOMMENDATION: Accept the bid of Triple W Equipment bid to supply a Mulch Master Leaf
Machine.
FISCAL EFFECTS: • Expenditure of budgeted Special Street Maintenance funds totaling $57,700.00.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Council

Re: Leaf Machine Bid
Triple W Equipment was the sole bidder on the Mulch Master Leaf Machine and the
Leaf Hopper. The bidder met all specifications and came in under budget.
I am recommending that we accept the Triple W Equipment bid and purchase one
Mulch Master Leaf Machine for $51,100.00 and two Leaf Hoppers for $6,600.00.
The machine is the manufacturer's current Model Year 2000.
