Attn: Tom Jentz
Dear Tom:
Per our phone conversation of Sept. 1 , please accepts this letter as my application to be
appointed to the Technical Advisory Committee, as a citizen member.
I have always had a concerned interest in the transportation issues having a direct impact
on the economy of the valley.
In the past I have served as a director of the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce, and on the
Transportation Committee for several years. Currently I serve as a board member for
Glacier Park International Airport.
I have owned several businesses in Kalispell over the past 30 years and am backing off
from intense involvement, leaving me with more time to spend on these kinds of
activities.
I feel I could offer a positive point of view to assist the Technical Committee.

Re: Citizen's Transportation Advisory Committee
Dear Commissioners:
Please accept this letter as a statement of my interest in serving as a county representative on
the local transportation committee. I look forward to the opportunity to work with the Flathead
County Commissioners, the Montana Department of Transportation, and local government
entities in prioritizing infrastructure needs in Flathead County and reviewing transportation issues.
I believe my background and experience will provide a benefit to the County Commissioners
and to the committee. I am a native of Flathead County, born in Kalispell and raised in
Columbia Falls. Following graduation from Columbia Falls High School, I attended Montana
State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and Masters
degree in Civil Engineering. While studying for my Masters degree, I assisted the civil engineering
department in setting up the Western Transportation Institute, a research and development
facility for implementing technological advancement in rural transportation networks. Also
during college, I worked on the Denver International Airport as a summer intern and for the
Montana Department of Transportation as a summer intern in the Missoula area. Since
graduation from college, I have worked as a consulting engineer in Kalispell. Currently, I am the
principal engineer for Schwcrz Engineering, Inc.
Thank you again for the opportunity to submit this statement of interest for serving on the
transportation committee. Should questions arise regarding my interest in serving on the
committee or my past experience, please do not hesitate to call me. I can be reached during
the day at 755-1333 or in the evening at 756-0151.
Sincerely,

Committee. I am very interested in being a part of this
group and feel that I would be an asset in helping make
decisions that will benefit our community.
To let you know a little about myself, I am a local
business owner in the Flathead Valley. I own a
company called Montana Rockworks. We quarry
architectural and landscape stone locally and sell it all
over the country. Our business employs an average of
30-35 employees year-round. I have grown up in this
valley; my family homesteaded in Kalispell at the turn
of the last century.
Through my business I have earned extensive
experience with operating machinery and crews of
people for road building purposes. Owning our own
equipment and making the decisions of building roads
in our own quarries, has given me knowledge of what is
involved in road building, repairing and maintaining
(such as money, crews, equipment and time).
I believe that I would be an asset to the Technical
Advisory Committee, not only have I grown up in this
valley supporting the valley with personal and business
5pedolizing in
taxes and understanding what is important myself and

other residents, but I also am a local business owner bringing my
experience and knowledge of similar situations with me.
I hope that you will consider me in your decision for the County
Representative of this committee. If you need to contact me, please
feet free to call me either at work (406) 752-7625 or home (406) 755-
