Ordinance repealing City licensing for plumbing contractors.
December 5, 2000
BACKGROUND: This is a housekeeping Ordinance requesting that the Council repeal
the City Code requiring the need for City licences for plumbers. We
currently license plumbers for a fee of $25 the first year and $10 for
renewal. The State also licenses plumbers. We feel that it is a
duplication of licencing requirements and probably costs us more to
process than we receive.
RECOMMENDATION: Adoption of this Ordinance.
FISCAL EFFECTS: Last fiscal year we collected $240.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by Council.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING STEAMi
HEATING SYSTEMS, KALISPELL MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING INAN-M
1104, REPEALINGREQUIRED; AUTHORIZING
CITY ATTORNEY TO CODIFY THIS ORDINANCE AND DECLARING
WHEREAS, § 21-2 B, Chapter 21, Plumbing, Steam Fitting and Heating
Systems, Kalispell Municipal Code requires persons
engaged in plumbing to secure a master or journeyman
plumbing license, and
WHEREAS, plumbing is a trade, occupation or profession regulated
by the State of Montana Department of Commerce and Board
of Plumbers, and
WHEREAS, City regulation of plumbers unnecessarily duplicates
licensing and regulation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KALISPELL, MONTANA AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. That Section 21-2 B, (License Required; Fee)
Ordinance No. 1104, is hereby repealed.
SECTION II. All parts and portions of Ordinance No. 1104,
not amended hereby, remain the same.
SECTION III. That the City Attorney is hereby authorized
and directed to codify this Ordinance, in
accordance with this Ordinance.
SECTION IV. This Ordinance shall take effect 30 days from
and after its passage by the City Council.
