Traffic counts were compared against the Kalispell Area Transportation Plan
Update Figure 3-12 in Table 1-1 below. The comparison shows a high degree of
variability. between the counts collected and the traffic model.

1.2 2012 Counts & Willow Creek Traffic Impact Study
In January 2006, traffic counts were collected within the same study area for the
proposed Willow Creek Subdivision. In comparison, recently collected traffic
counts show a significant decrease over the past five years in both the AM and
PM Peak Hour. Total volumes through the Appleway Drive, Center Street, and
2°d Street intersections have declined as shown below:

Since 2006 traffic volumes along Meridian Road have decreased. This decline
has caused the PM Peak Hour to shift from the 5:00 PM rush hour to dismissal
time from Peterson School at 3:30 PM.
1.3 MDT A TR Data
MDT's permanent Automatic Traffic Recorder (ATR) site #24 located
approximately 0.9 miles west of the US Highway 2 and Bypass intersection
collects data annually near the study area. In reviewing the data as shown below
in Table 1-3, current traffic volumes are equivalent to those first measured in
2001-2002. The data yields a historic traffic volume growth rate of 1.9%
annually from 1991 to 2011.
