ATTENDING:
Jeff Clawson, Building Official Sean Conrad, Senior Planner
Dave Dedman, Fire Chief Tom Jentz, Planning & Building Director
Keith Haskins, Senior Civil Engineer Wade Rademacher, Police Lieutenant
P.J. Sorensen, Chairman Kathy Kuhlin, Recording Secretary
GUESTS: James Freyholtz, MDT; Rebecca Bodnar, WWTP
HEAR THE PUBLIC: None.
PERFORMANCE BOND REMINDERS: None. There will be several projects that will probably
be doing Performance Bonds for Certificates of Occupancy. A to Z, The Juicery, and others.
OLD BUSINESS: Kalispell Brewery — 412 Main Street — change of use to microbrewery. They
are going into the old gym building that was previously at this location. The new plans show 90'
angled parking with more than 24 feet of backing area behind it, so they can go in and go out.
Sorensen noted that where the landscaping comes down and there is a gap in the landscaping near the
concrete over where the storm drain connection is; they could either continue that landscaping down
or put in some kind of bollard or a small fence. The landscaping also shows the use of rock, which is
not permitted. Parks will need to address this with them. The storm drain was cut short, and Haskins
is not sure what they have planned for that. Haskins will refer them to Rebecca Bodnar regarding
their sewer, having a pre-treatment requirement on their effluent. This project is conditionally
approved through Site Review. The name will be different than "Kalispell Brewery."
NEW BUSINESS: None.
PLANNING OFFICE ITEMS: Nothing new for November.
OTHER REPORTS: Jentz informed the committee of the City's purchase of Kidsports permanent
lease using TIF money. They will be moving the Junior Legion Ball Park to Kidsport and add more
parking. They also plan to punch Four Mile Drive through to Stillwater Road. This will cross the
path of a proposed west side highway. A developer will need to put in the interchange on Four Mile.
Parkridge Drive will go away in the future. Discussion was held regarding a possible road through
the Kidsport Complex. Rademacher believes it would be very useful for the Kidsport parents and
Dedman concurred that it would be useful for emergency vehicles. Jentz will meet with the Kidsport
people and try to convince them of this proposed road.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:20 a.m.
