Highlights of monthly activity for the operating divisions of the Public 'Works
e artmeDt for the month of October 2005 are as follows:
ENGINEERING DIVISION
• Welcomed Mark Crowley aboard the e g-Ineeri .g staff ' as Construction Manager and
completed his project orientation.
• Welcomed Susan Turner aboard the engineering staff ass oc ate Civil engineer and
completed her project orientation.
Conducted a tecbnical review meeting with HDR engineers and. City Manager con.ceming
impacts on. the City from DEQ effort to impose TMDL restricti-on. on Flathead Lake.
• Supported Kalispell T C and provided infonnation on Transportation Plan ' date,
• Met wIth M.DT and County to revi.e v post -bypass road maintenance jurisdiction..
• Met with MDT and Morrison. Maierle on -site to review proposed utility extensions south
on US 93 r r . Cemetery Road intersection.
• Conduction project review meeting with RPA on preliminary engineering for upper zone
water storage tank.
• Conducted cted ro ect review meeting � with ��� or c water well r0J ect.
• Conducted pro' e t review meetings with MoiTison '.merle on old School. Station project
infrastructure design.
• Supported tec .m cal review .meeting with CI ty Manager and Parks Director concerning
landscaping n deficiencies along upgraded . US 93.
• Met with John Stang ofthe Daily :.rater Lake to d1se .ss broad range of cotn.r u .l.ty 1. sues
related to Public worksand assist him. to learn about Kalispell.
• :drafted Plans for the proposed Street Department Building.
• Held preconstruction conference, for Westwood Park Subdivision..
• Attended DFIRM progress meeting this ts a project to digitize the FEMA flood plain
maps for Flathead COUnt , incl ding the City of Kalispell).
• Completed drafting on. the Street Division's building,
• Had on. -site conferences with. Contractor regarding Meridian. Road. reconstruction..
• Attended architect sc ectlon. Committee for the Wells Fargo Bank renovation.
• Attended Long Range Planning Task :Force Sever, water, and Storm Drainage

ENGINEERING DIVISION continued...
• Assembled contract documents for the Street Division's building.
On -site conferences wi .h Contractor regarding Meridian reconstruction.
Began final drafting efforts for the golf course bridge repairs,
• Prepared Permits for golf course bridge repair and made site assessment.
• Surveyed drainage project at 't Street West at DAV # 1704 and completed ra.i..age plods.
• Worked on Phase 11 Storm Water permit. Made contact w1th MDT and the City of
Missoula.
• Finalized rafting effort for the golf course bridge repairs and provided copies to be used
in the Permitting process.
• Prepared b1d documents for the Street Maintenance Building. Blds will be opened at
230 p.m. on November er t"
• Surveyed staked grade of drainage Project at 7 th Street West and Hjgb School parkin.g
lot.
• Met withMDT and reviewer M Q's comments regarding the MS4 Permit.
• Worked on Phase 11 Storm Water Per.l.t.
• Attended site review meetings geld on Thursday.

• Replaced sidearm bushings and pins; and repaired fuel gage and. weld-ed grabber on
garbage truck.
• Replaced spring anchor shan't and bushings on the Street ivislo .'s sweeper.
• Repaired starter rotor, replaced battery, and repaired cables on the Street Divislo .'s
loader.
• Repaired leaking foam spray valve on the Fire Department truck.
• Repalre . boom on Parks boom truer.
• Replaced leaking coolant hose on Water Division's dump truck.
• Repaired bent floor "s ark's teeth" and replaced seat damper shock on garbage tnil .
• Repaired broken hopper screens on the Elgin sweeper,
Repaired aind replaced broken parts on the #710 leaf loader.
• Replaced water retlef valve on the .Fire Department's .la .der ti .e .
• Prepared two pollee vehlcles for action.
• :Made repairs to lead' removal equipment.

SANITARYIST RMSEWER S ON
• Continued video and jet cleaning of sewer lines Monday through Thursday,
• Performed weekly maintenance of twenty-six 11. t stations each Friday.

SOLID WASTE VSN
• Delivered 8 containers to new customers: ers: 090 gallon., 4 -100 gallon, 1-400 gallon,
3-300 gallon,

• Produced 80 M gallons of water: 1 M gallons upper zone and 61 M gallons lover zone.
• .injected 282 gallons of sodium by oeh .or'te, 1. % so ti.on to maintain an average
chlorine residual of 0.33 .GPM throughout the system.
Continued daily r o-n1toring of all pump s attons and routine mauitenance on. all pumps,
motors, ehlorm tion equipment, analyzers, grounds, buildings, controls.. testing, water
sampling, and -record keeping.
• Repaired b tldf.ng cracks at the Depot Well.
• Wired 240 volt circuit to lab room for stove.
• Repaired three leaks at pump packing at Booster Stations and re.placed lubricatlon line on
Booster pump.
• Replaced R50 Amp fuse at the Depot Well.
•Paved driveway and. landscaped the Armory Well.
Replaced manhole did at the Armory Well marked `fwat r"'.
• Painted exhaust systems. (exterior) at the Armory Well.
• Laid out and designed feed line for irrigation system and acquired estini.ates for same.
