REPORT: Doug Russell, City Manager
FROM: Roger Nasset, Chief of Police
SUBJECT: Recognition of Police Commissioner Joan Jellison
MEETING DATE: July 2, 2012
BACKGROUND: Joan Jellison was first appointed to the Police Commission in 1975
and has served diligently on the board for the last 37 years. Mrs. Jellison has served our
community with enthusiasm, great insight and professionalism. This year she has chosen to
not re -apply for appointment.
The primary duties of the Police Commission are to exam applicants for the police force and
to hear and decide any appeals by police officers if they arise. Mrs. Jellison has been
involved with both processes, most notably the hiring process, and has went out of her way
to make accommodations in her personal life, to serve on the committee for the betterment
of the Kalispell Police Department and the citizens we serve.
To my knowledge she has been involved with the hiring process for every current member
of the Kalispell Police Department and more than likely every member since 1975 knowing
her dedication.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Recognition of Joan Jellison for 37 years of dedicated service
to the Kalispell Police Commission.
