MEETING DATE: June 18, 2012 — Regular Council Meeting BACKGROUND: The process of budget setting and approval requires the preparation and publication of a preliminary budget for consideration by the council and by the public. The preliminary budget has now been produced by city staff, presented to the council and published on its website. The council discussed this budget at the June 11, 2012 workshop and will continue its discussion at 6:00pm June 18, 2012 prior to its regularly scheduled council meeting. A motion to approve the expenditure of funds within the 2013 preliminary budget that are proposed for salaries, maintenance, operation and projects already approved by the council until the final budget is adopted is on the agenda to provide the necessary interim budget authority to city staff. The council may continue to discuss and consider items within the preliminary budget after passing this motion. RECOMMENDATION: A Motion should be offered as follows: A motion to set and publish notice for a public hearing on the Kalispell City FY 2013 Budget for July 16, 2013 at 7:00prn in Council Chambers and to approve the expenditure of funds within the 2013 preliminary budget that are proposed for salaries, maintenance, operation and projects already approved by the council until the 5nal budget is adopted.
