BACKGROUND: The City of Kalispell retained the services of Stelling Engineers to provide a study and report of the various options of funding and maintaining the Kalispell City Airport and on April 9, 2012 the report was delivered to the City Council and made public. Some of the options that are analyzed by the consultants and before the City Council involve the grant of funds from the federal government through the Federal Aviation Administration. Therefore it is good and necessary that the public have the opportunity to review the report and comment to the City Council prior to any decision that the Council may make. Resolution No. 5556 advises the public that the City Council will be making a decision about the future of the Kalispell City Airport, its funding and maintenance, and calls for and sets a public hearing. RECOMMENDATION: City Council give consideration to and pass Resolution No. 5556. FISCAL IMPACTS: The fiscal impacts are well addressed in the report provided by Stelling Engineers that is being made public. Respectfully submitted, Charles Hia�a 1, In rim City Manager WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell retained the services of Stelling Engineers to provide a study and report of the various options of funding and maintaining the Kalispell City Airport and on April 9, 2012 the report was delivered to the City Council and made public; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Kalispell and its citizens that an opportunity is provided for the public to adequately review the evidence provided by the report and to give public comment to the City Council prior to any decision by the Council. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. That the City Clerk shall cause all required legal notice to be made that a public hearing regarding the future funding and maintenance of the Kalispell City Airport shall be conducted at the regularly scheduled City Council meeting on Monday, May 7, 2012, in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 201 lst Avenue East, Kalispell, Montana, at 7:00 P.M. SECTION II. That the City Clerk shall further cause the subject Stelling Engineers report to be made available on the City of Kalispell website as well as the audio recording of the April 9, 2012 airport workshop and a written compilation of the questions posed and answers provided.
