According to state law police officers must come before Council within 30 days after their one year anniversary for confirmation. RECOMMENDATION: Confirmation of Officers Bain and Sutton FISCAL EFFECTS: These two officer positions are within budget authority for 2011/2012. ALTERNATIVES: Do not confirm. Both Officer Bain and Sutton have successfully completed the one year probationary period effective March 30, 2012. Officer Bain is an Army veteran and has earned an Associate of Science Degree from Flathead Valley Community College. During the Law Enforcement Basic Academy Officer Bain received the Alex Mavity award which is the student with the top accumulated ranking for all scored activities which includes physical fitness, academic and practical exercise scores. Officer Sutton is a Marine Coip veteran and has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Carroll College. Officer Sutton also excelled while at the Basic Academy where he finished just a fraction of a point from winning the overall physical fitness award.
