Proclamation - Girl Scouts 100th AnniversaryF-6 a LOW_3 WHEREAS, March 12, 2012, marks the 100"' anniversary of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America, started in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia, and WHEREAS, for 100 years Girl Scouting has helped build courage, confidence, and character in millions of girls and women who act to make the world a better place through the dedication, time, and talent of volunteers of different backgrounds, abilities, and areas of expertise; and WHEREAS,, core programs centered around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math,, along with environmental stewardship, healthy living, financial literacy, and global citizenship help girls develop a solid foundation in leadership; and WHEREAS, Girl Scouts, is the largest member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, a global movement comprised of more than 10 million. girls in 145 countries worldwide. NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Tammi Fisher, Mayor of the City of Kalispell, do hereby applaud the Girl Scouts of the United States of America for their 100 years of leadership and expertise as the voice for and of girls, and proudly proclaim 201.2 as the DAXED this 51b day of March, 2012.
