Approval of Minutes: Russ moved to approve the September 13 minutes; John seconded.
Approved 6-0.
Old Business: None
New Business:
LF Brown — 17 2nd St E; projecting sign. Less intense on colors than what is shown on the
plans. Janet moved to approve; John seconded. Approved 6-0.
Second Helping Thrift — 1203 Hwy 2 W; new wall sign. Unlit. Comment that the "S" is
creative. Bill moved to approve; Julie seconded. Approved 6-0.
Walmart — 170 Hutton Ranch Rd; freestanding sign panels. John moved to approve; Russ
seconded. Approved 6-0.
Albertson's/Holiday Gas Station — 900 W Idaho ; replace existing wall/canopy/freestanding
sign panels. The freestanding sign closest to the pumps has a bit of an issue because it is not
on the gas station property. They may do an agreement for it, or may move it to the
landscape island at the entrance. The size/height may need to be adjusted to move it. Either
option will work for the committee as long as it meets code. Russ moved to approve; Janet
seconded. Approved 6-0.
Other Discussion:
Awards Program — presentation went well and was well attended. Corey gave Carol her
certificate at another meeting, as she was unable to attend the council meeting.
5 Guys — inquiry regarding some new signage on Hwy 93N which recently was installed.
Staff will look into it.
Temporary Signs on Main St — there was a proposal through staff to allow sandwich board
signs on the sidewalk on Main St. The planning board recommended approval. At the
council level, there was some discussion regarding the best boundaries. Staff took another
look at it and put together 3 options for the planning board to consider: along Main between
Center and 5th; from the alley between 1st and 2nd Avenues between Center and 5th; and the
B-4 zone between Center and 5th. Generally, the committee prefers a larger area among the
options, and would prefer the B-4 option.
