SUBJECT: Roundup for Safety Grant - Flathead Electric Cooperative
MEETING DATE: December 5, 2011
BACK GROUND: Flathead Electric's Roundup for Safety Board of Directors evaluates
applications and awards grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations to help pay for worthwhile
community safety projects.
The City of Kalispell Parks and Recreation Department submitted an application to renovate the
Woodland Camp Center at Woodland Park. The facility is used by the Recreation Department's
Summer Day Camp and the Flathead Youth Hockey Association. The grant award will be used
to install new gutters on the outside of the building ($1,440), and rubber flooring in the office
and the referee area ($300).
On November 10`h notice was received from FEC awarding the city a Roundup for Safety grant
in the amount of $1,740.00.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve Resolution 5536 accepting the Roundup for Safety grant
and authorizing budget appropriation.

Thanks for your request to RoundUp for Safety. We are pleased to let you know we will
fund $1740.00; $300 for the rubber flooring and $1440 for the gutters you are requesting
funding for. Just as a clarification, Roundup for Safety has a $10,000 per project
guideline and the requests from Flathead County Park and Rec and Flathead Valley
Hockey Association were for one project.
When this project has been completed please contact Celinda English at 249-1149 for an
inspection. As soon as she has OK'd your project send copies of the billing and your
certificate of completion on to me for payment. My address and phone number are

It is our policy to hold designated funds for six months following the month grants are
made. This grant will expire 05/31/2012. If the funds have not been used within that time
they will revert back to our general fund. After that time it will be necessary for you to
reapply. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
I am enclosing a Certificate of Completion that must be completed by any person
representing your organization and returned to me before funds can be released.

WHEREAS, on August 15, 2011, the City Council adopted Resolution 5513 adopting the
annual appropriations of the City of Kalispell for fiscal year 2011-2012; and
WHEREAS, on November 10, 2011, the City of Kalispell was informed that it was a recipient
of a Roundup for Safety Grant from Flathead Electric Cooperative in the amount
of $1,740 to renovate the Woodland Camp Center at Woodland Park; and
WHEREAS, said funds now available to the City have not been appropriated and an increase of
appropriation authority is needed for the project total of $1,740.
AOIT' TAEREFORE, BE IT —RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KALISPELL AS
SECTION I. That the City Council hereby accepts the FEC Roundup for Safety Grant in
the amount of up to $1,740.
SECTION II. That the City Council hereby appropriates up to the sum of $1,740 and
directs the Finance Director to allocate said amount.
