SUBJECT: Postpone Bid Award - Fire Station 61 Renovation
MEETING DATE: August 2, 2010
BACKGROUND: The Kalispell Fire Department applied for a Fire Station Renovation grant
through the Department of Homeland Security. The fire department was awarded the grant for
$113485039.00. A request for qualifications for Architect/Engineering services was completed and
Jackola Architects was awarded this contract for $1061,850. The City of Kalispell spent $2,666 for
plan and specification printing. A request for qualifications for General Contractors was completed
and three firms were selected to bid this project. The three firms were Swank Enterprises,
Hammerquist & Caselegno Inc., and Jackson Construction. The bid opening was held on July 27
and staff is recommending additional time to review the bids.
RECOMMENDATION: The City Council postpone the award of the bid until August 16.
FISCAL IMPACT: The entire grant is paid by Department of Homeland Security.
