Received two estimates for the project. One from Sandon Construction and Hadley's Excavating, Inc. Sandon had the law estimate. Contract and work packet were completed. • Prepared project packets for Central School Museum Roof Drain Routing Project. • Attended webcast on Environmental Management Systems. • Performed field visit and gathered information for the installation of a stop sign at the intersection of North Main Street and Lawrence Park Road. Recommended a yield sign be placed at the intersection of I" Avenue EN and Lawrence Park Road. • Researched double metering problem at Tidyman's Grocery. • Worked on Gateway West Mall Parking Lot Addition Project. • Reviewed plans and specifications for Cottonwood Park Subdivision. ENGINEERING DIVISION continued— • Examined Montana Department of Transportation plans and specifications for their quality control and quality assurance requirements. • Issued approval letters for Stillwater Bluffs Subdivision and Sinopah Subdivision. • Made site visits to Ashley Park Subdivision, Sunnyside Subdivision, Leisure Heights Subdivision, Muskrat Slough Subdivision, and River Glen Subdivision to examine status and condition. • Site visit to Highway 93 South project to examine sidewalk failure near Kalispell Marine and manhole repair near Scotty's Bar. • Attended pre -design conference on the water tank and well assessment project. • Issued Notice to Proceed on the Noffsinger Springs Lead Abatement and Window Replacement Project. • Site visit to the bridge over the Stillwater River at Buffalo Hills Golf Course to collect site measurements and photographs. A project is underway to install steel pilings and steel caps to stabilize the existing bridge. • Reviewed construction drawings for the Tele Tech Parking Lot Project. • Field visit to Leisure Heights Subdivision to investigate unauthorized use of fire hydrant to obtain city water. Directed the contractor to obtain a hydrant meter. • Held preconstruction conference for Noffsinger Springs Building Lead Abatement and Window Replacement Project. • Held preconstruction conference for Granrud Lane reconstruction project. • Designed piling and piling cap for the golf course bridge stabilization. • Attended site review meetings held on Thursday. OFFICE AND STAFF There were 1 I emergency call -outs for the month of April: Water Division — 6 Sewer Division ---- 5 TSS Division — 0 Street Division - 0 WWTP - 0 Total — 1 I CENTRAL GARAGE 113 Repair orders were completed during the month of April: ■ Police --- 25 ■ Streets ----24 ■ Fire — lb ■ Garbage - 8 * Others - 40 ■ Total -W-113 • Continued regular maintenance of City vehicles and machinery. • Replaced front brakes, rotors, battery, and ignition master switch on PD vehicle. • Removed lettering and prepared four City vehicles for the Creston Auction. • Installed fuel system condenser on Water Division's truck. • Fabricated and installed frame supports on Water Division's trailer. CENTRAL GARAGE continued... • Repaired hydraulic oil leak on the Sewer Division's jet truck. • Welded and straightened grabber arm on the garbage truck. • Repaired bent suction tube and installed frame alignment plates on the Elgin sweeper. Also installed new filler tube and check valve on the Elgin sweeper. • Repaired water suction pipe on Fire Department Wildlands unit. • Replaced broken hydraulic oil line on the Elgin sweeper. • Repaired cylinder on Street Division's plow truck. • Replaced uJoints, repaired rear brakes, and removed plow from Water Divisions truck. • Replaced engine in Parks' pickup. • Continue to change City vehicles to summer tires. • Replaced EGR sensor on a Police vehicle. • Replaced telescopic boom switch on sewer jet truck. • Repaired bend and broken packer plate bracket on the garbage truck. • Replaced broken hydraulic hose on the Elgin Sweeper. • Replaced oil pressure warning switch on the grader. • Replaced water pump packing on the Fire Department ladder truck. • Replace transmission shifter in garbage truck. • Replace dirt shoes on Elgin sweeper. • Repair turn signals on water flush truck. • Resealed tailgate and fabricate door locks on Sani-Vac truck. Also repaired the emergency brakes. • Replaced hydraulic cylinder and replaced broken support brackets and clamps on the new garbage truck. • Replaced hydraulic oil filter and adjusted pressure settings on the old garbage truck. • Repaired shorted solenoid on the Street Division's crack sealer. • Replaced main broom on the Tennant sweeper. • Held weekly safety meetings. SANITAR Y/STORM SEWER DIVISON • Continued video and jet cleaning of sewer lines Monday through Thursday. • Performed weekly maintenance of twenty-six lift stations each Friday. • Held weekly safety meetings. SOLID WASTE DIVISION • Delivered 9 containers to new customers: 090 gallon, 6-100 gallon, 1-400 gallon, 2-300 gallon. • Repaired 5 containers: 2 --- 90 gallon, 1 — 300 gallon, 2 400 gallon and responded to 8 violations. • Continued weekly garbage service and alley cleanup. • Continued pruning in City alleys. • Held weekly safetymeetings. STREET DIVISION • General operations and maintenance of City streets and alleys. • Patched various alleys and streets throughout the City. • Sidewalk flushing and sweeping of City Streets. • Repaired manholes on 7th Avenue EN. • Hauled leaves to the County Fairgrounds. • Held weekly safety meetings. WATER DIVISION WATER PRODUCTION & STORAGE: • Produced 76 M gallons of water: I8 M gallons upper zone and 58 M gallons lower zone. • Injected 330 gallons of sodium hypochlorite, 12% solution to maintain an average chlorine residual of 0.35 PPM throughout the system.. • Continued daily monitoring of all pump stations and routine maintenance on all pumps, motors, chlorination equipment, analyzers, grounds, buildings, controls, testing, water sampling, and record keeping. • Poured concrete and patched hole in foundation at the water tower cell site. • Repaired door intrusion switches. • Exercised Grandview Well 42. • Took iron bacteria samples of all entry points. • Replaced new motor in the Grandview Well. Pumped sediment from tail pipe. • Changed oil and filters on standby generators. • Repaired Grandview Well #2 pre -tube system. • Nelson Electric removed conduit from inside old windows at Noffsinger Springs. • IRS Environmental began work on exterior of Noffsinger Springs. Removed and replaced old concrete, filled cracks, removed old paint, and prepared surface for paint. • Started to work with consultants on rehabilitation of Grandview Well 2. WATER CONS TR UCTION AND SYSTEM REPAIR: • Tagged 46 delinquent accounts on the West Side of Kalispell. • Meter maintenance and change out on going. • Completed 182 work orders during the month April. • Completed a 6" water tap at Lowe's and a 12x8" tap at Appleway Drive. • Repaired the 12" water main on Appleway Drive. • Repaired fire hydrants at Fatt Boys on Hwy 2 West and on 7th Avenue West and Sunnyside. • Repaired the curb box at 111 Ranch Road. • Completed (2) — 8" x 3/4" taps at 1450 & 1452 5th Avenue West. • Completed (2) --- 12 X 8" tapes on Appleway Drive. • Repaired 48 meters. • Installed 14 new meters. 0 Tagged 148 meters for replacement. WATER CONS TR UCTION A ND SYSTEM REPAIR continued... • Completed 6 x 3/a" water tap at 1020 41h Avenue East. • Marked water valves for the overlay project. • Dug carp stop at main and shut off at 626 1" Avenue East. • Repaired curb stop at 1140 South Main Street. • Completed PSI testing at Ashley Drive. • Fixed 52 electronics. • Changed out 46 meters. • Attended Foremen meeting at the WWTP. • Held weekly safety meetings. TRAFFIC SIGNS & SIGNALS DIVISON • Continued regular maintenance of signals, signs, luminaires, barricades, sight obstructions, Airport lighting, alley lighting. ► Retrieved counters at 5'h Avenue East and 7th Street East. Tallied results and delivered results to City Hall. • Painted parking lines behind City Hall for the Police Department. • Moved "Stop" signs from old poles to new poles. • Began fabricating new headache rack for warning lights for the spare truck. • Went to Helena to pick up two new vans for the Public Works Department. • Removed the "No Left Turn" signs by the car wash on 5`h Avenue EN & Idaho for the summer. Will put them back up in the fall. • Removed the mural at Main and 4th Street (in the way of construction of new building). Took the mural to the Hockaday for storage. • Removed the advanced warning signs at the new "Stop" signs at 5`r' Avenue East and 51h Street East and at 51h Avenue East and 10"' Street East. Installed new street name signs. • Blocked off 4th Street West between 71h Avenue West and 8"' Avenue West for the tree removal by the homeowner. • Repaired Jersey rails on 12`h Street E that was hit in accident • Repaired stop sign at Meridian and W Center that was damaged by semi. • Spotted 0 Ave EN from Montana to Center. Measured out 2 crosswalks, one on Sunnyview Lane by hospital and on Conrad Drive and Woodland Park Dr for epoxy paint. • Painted yellow line on the south sidewalk by Elrod School for students waiting for the bus. Painted yellow stripe by Russell school on the east sidewalk for about 300'. • Dug hole for new stop sign by Lawrence Park and N Main St. Installed pole and breakaway with cement. • Researched flash program for the downtown signed systems. • Replaced bad pedestrian push button at Center and I" Avenue East for east bound pedestrians on the NW comer. • Painted the new shelving. • Installed two new signs for the Parking Commission by Central School Museum. • Weekly safety meetings held. WASTEWATER TREATMENT DIVISION • 189 Work orders were completed during the month. of April. • 445 Lab tests were performed during the month. of April. + 23 Loads of sludge were hauled during April. • 110,260 pounds of bio-solids were pressed. • Permit Report for March 2005: There were no permit violations.
